—“It’s *interesting* that conservatives aren’t piping up to warn that patriots will rise up to defend the Constitution by any means necessary as the executive branch systematically attacks every single one of the Constitution’s structural protections against executive tyranny.”—Will Wilkinson @willwilkinson
Well that’s not quite true right? Violence is a resource. Power is a resource. The question is only whether that resource can be put to good(production of capital) or ill (consumption or loss of capital). How would you measure the capital losses under your neoliberalism?
For example what is the cost of one point of aggregate IQ? What is the cost of loss of rule of law? So if The President is trying to retain, and capital, and the rule of law that produces it, by using power, then it is the peaceful alternative to the Right’s restoration of capital and rule of law by violence.
You have no moral foundation to appeal to for advancing dysgenia, capital consumption, population expansion, or redistribution over investment in the productivity of commons. You simply use sentimental appeal to sell false promise to those whose existence is carried entirely by white men over 35.
Democracy is somewhere between a limited luxury good and a catastrophic means of hyperconsumption of accumulated civilizational capital in all its forms. We are wealthy because of what remains of rule of law, and the germanic rule of law. The ultimate achievement of our politics.
So you have it backwards. The president is protecting you, from us.
