The french originated socialism as national socialism. Both Marx’s international communism and international socialism are, in a sense ‘national socialism’ made international.

Many on the alt-right and many conservatives who want to venerate their people and provide for them, all loathe to spread the benefits too far.

But it’s the same sentiments involved.

  1. Conservatives ‘narrow the circle’ to nationalism.

  2. Lefties just ‘expand the circle’.

  3. Vegans and Jainists push the circle further to include all sentient life.

In that sense the difference is only in ‘who pays and how much?’.
