—“Before 300 BC where was and how powerful was Western civilisation?”—
Do you mean the indo european expansion that conquered and eradicated every competitor from spain to the border of china?
Do you mean the Hittites that very nearly conquered egypt?
Do you mean the Dorians that conquered greece, or the Itals that conquered Italy?
Do you mean the celts who tried to conquer the itals (romans) but were, as a consequence, the victims of the Roman genocide? Or do you mean the germanics that conquered the romans because of the vacuum the celtic holocaust created?
The reason for the west’s success is not who is first, but who evolves and adapts fastest.
Compare that to every single other civilization.
Why does everyone else evolve and adapt slowly?
I spent decades trying to answer that question.
It began with the indo european expansion.
The Yamna(ukraine, russia) the Corded Ware (poland, germany), the mediterranean (anatolians, greece, then rome), the coast, the continent.
A fully militarized society, Sovereignty, Reciprocity, Truth, Duty, Markets in everything, producing meritocracy, and adaptive velocity.
It can’t be done faster.
Every institution we have exchanged stress for speed.
Every other people avoid stress and therefore pay a cost of speed.
This is why you fail. You think first matters.
All that matters is speed.
