“SCIENCE IT”: Groups need a means of organizing cooperation and suppression aggressions across teh entire spectrum of human behaviors. To do so all groups require a system of measurement with which to test behaviors of others, and adapt to behaviors themselves. The spectrum of systems of measurement reflect the increases in demand for knowledge and ability, or graceful failure in the absence of knowledge and ability. Given that humans are capable of imitatation (physical), empathy (emotional), and sympathy (cognitive) intuition, the least cost method of tranferring a system of measurment is storytelling.(mythology and religion) The next is rules (rationalism and norms). The next is outcomes: evidence and science). All civilizations make use of some combination of storries, rules, and knowledge. Groups need to organize differently given the geography, climate, avaiable food sources, their own heterogeneity or homogeneity, and regional competitors. Together these demands for competitive survival, and internal cooperation, force the evolution of a mythology, philosophy, and at least some limited empirical technology as systems of decidabilty we generalize into a ‘Group Evolutionary Strategy’. This strategy evolves into metaphysical assumptions that are unstated and uknown to the population reliant on that strategy. This reduction to unconsious habituation is both useful and harmful. It is useful in the sense that metaphsyiccal presumptions are free from generational critique and undermining. On the other hand it means civilizations have little or no chance to deviate from their strategies. And as such humans evolve a biological trend toward behaviors favoring their strategy, and against alteration of that strategy. This explains the rigidity of civilizatiions and the natural and inescapable conflict between them. (RE: Huntington.) To make matters worse there are a limited number of organizing strategies availalbe to man because there are only three primary methods of coercing man: seduction, exchange, force. These primary methods of coercian produce elites and elite institutions: seduction:religion and religious laws, exchange:commerce, trade, and contract law, and force: military, State, and state command-law. So we see civilizations specialize on each of these three primary methods of coercion: middle-east:Tribes and Religion, China:Families and State, Europe: Nations and Law.
