Every single act of respecting (meaning, not privatizing) other’s property is a forgone opportunity. A cost born. A tax. Every privatization a theft not only from the owner, but from all those who have forgone such opportunities and paid the tax of forgone opportunity. We pay for the normative commons, and it is this normative commons that other civilizations do NOT pay, that has been our competitive difference in the three eras of man’s domestication.
