Universal equilibrium is a steady state which is impossible in an environment of continuous entropy, wherein a subset of the environment succeeds in negative entropy. So this question depends on the meaning of equilibrium. In this sense survival by continuous recursive adaptation is the only possible equilibrium – ie: there is always an intersection between supply and demand (negentropy and entropy) but it varies moment by moment and location by location. in the aggregate entropy always wins.
