I’m very technical in those definitions.
Let’s say we have a pair of lego shapes. What can multiple pairs of those shapes make? Take those shapes, what combinations of those shapes can we make…
Keep this process going.
A discipline is the scope of combinations possible.
So, a simple example is counting, arithmetic, accounting, math, algebra, geometry, calculus, analysis etc, where each ‘language’ increases the number of combinations (complexity) that can be described mathematically.
The sciences consist of discovering and documenting the paradigm, vocabulary, and logic of each scale of complexity.
And yes most psychology is nonsense – but as we demonstrate daily, it doesn’t have to be.
