Why do wives refer to a man’s enthusiastic impulsive expressions of physical affection as ‘mauling’?

They’re just ‘excited hugs’ that remove her from her feet, and stop her from what she’s doing. And no it doesn’t matter if we’re covered with lawn clippings and such. 😉
