Junior year of college. Review. Prof: “Why do you make art?” Me: “Because it’s fun.” Him: (disappointed) “Let me know when it becomes work”. Me: (confused, dumbfounded) “Why isn’t hard work, even suffering it, fun?”. Only later in life did I grasp that’s a rare bias in humans.
