The unstated issue here is that (a) we (including myself as a Ukrainian resident) wanted to get rid of eastern ukraine b4 2014 anyway because we thought of the Russians there as the equivalent of USA’s “white trash”. (b) but Ukraine also needs port access to the black sea.

@Lord_Keynes2 @FaXistic So geostrategically russia needs, and we need russia to hold Crimea for mutual interests in christendom. They could make the case they are just in the same for the don river since it’s Russia’s industrial-military heartland.
But they should BUY them not conquer them.
