THE BRAIN ISN”T COMPLICATED
(humor) I have a set of ‘tics’ that only manifest in certain situations, usually low information, when alone, where I use some gesture or phrase to escape an autistic OCD ‘stuck’ mode. The only verbal one, emerged after surgery as ‘I want to go home.’ Bad in social contexts. lol.

While this mights eem a problem, it’s a very small price to pay for the fact that I can concentrate on anything for an endless period of time without any effort at all, as long as it’s even vaguely interesting.

We all have these behaviors at different levels of intensity and their severity corresponds with the difficulty of changing context. Those of us who are able to hyper-contextualize need some way of overloading the thalamus and regaining control of our attention.

So for most people that might just mean blinking, breathing deeply, or moving naturally. For the other end of the spectrum – pure autists – can’t break out of it no matter what. Knowledge of the ‘simplicity’ of the brain explains most everything from depression to tourettes.
