AFAIK we know the origin of east asians and their morphology, and they’re from an early fork of homo sapiens sapiens, and the combination of tibetan cold, possibly close quarters, and much higher neoteny (probably higher stress) for longer periods is just as likely the cause of their morphology as cross-breeding. But we’ll know soon enough at the rate scientists are developing understanding of our development.

I have this little chart I made to show how the generations of man emerged from the four base founding populations and it’s pretty obvious that (a) neoteny makes us increasingly similar over time (b) regardless of the path that we used to get there. The two most evolved populations are japanese and northern europeans. And the japanese are farther along than we are by a good bit.
