I use this modification to Paul Fussel’s US Class Hierarchy:
Top out-of-sight
Upper
Upper Middle or UK Middle
———
US Middle
(High prole) Lower Middle
(Mid-prole) Working
(Low prole) Laboring
———
Lower class (dependent)
Destitute (criminals, unemployable, etc)
Bottom out-of-sight
