We first evolved empathy for experience, then sympathy for intentions, then sympathy for thoughts, then applied that to animals to hunt, then to things to hunt them with, and to increasingly complex things and processes, then using complex tools to do more of it.

Sailer’s intuition is correct & reflects Flynn’s theory of cause. To articulate it: 1st predictor I know of was Weber: “Everything will evolve into calculation”.
