CYCLES TO SUPERCYCLES

—“I encountered a new concept today, the so called “Turchin cycle” which states that every x years or so political violence breaks out (political violence as defined by Peter Turchin). Is there truth to this? If so it matches up more or less perfectly with our current situation. I might’ve missed if you’ve written about it.”—

It’s 84 years, or 100 years, and The Roman’s had a name for it, Carrol Quigley and other historians in Civilizations, Kondratiev found it in economics, a collection of economists in business cycles, investment cycles, inventory cycles, Jack Goldstone in global populations, Strauss and Howe found it in Generations, and Turchin, most recently, again in demographics.

I also refer to Tribes: How Race, Religion and Identity Determine Success, and The Coming of Neo-Feudalism: A Warning to the Global Middle Class by Joel Kotkin.

This was sort of part of my generation’s intellectual development and was suppressed by the left.

I read and read a lot. The present generation is the most ignorant in history – by design.
