TESTIMONY
by Eric Best
I try and explain it by posing the question “If we could turn back the clock and restore the Constitution, what would stop this all from simply happening again?”
The reality is that the ink was hardly dry on the founding documents before the limits of their strength started being tested and found wanting. As a result, less than 100 years passed before the Nation became embroiled in a civil war that we have never recovered from and set us on this very trajectory. Like metastasizing cancer the corruption has just been compounding and spreading year after year, generation after generation with no real means of redress except the old “watering of the tree of liberty” – and that tree has become parched and withered.
It’s not enough to “restore” a Constitution that failed to it’s original weakness. Like a piece of software with fatal errors in coding it has to be patched or it will just crash again when you run it. Propertarianism, while perhaps not the most elegant name, is the only thing I have seen that actually answers the above question. While some aspects are complex especially in presentation, the kernel of it is almost deceptively simple IMO.
I have never written out one of my arguments as an operational statement. I decided not to go to law school when I was younger for a reason. However, I have always understood pretty much everything Curt has written or that I have read on the P site at an almost intuitive level. It has always just clicked for me.
