For many, strategy consist of a series of specific steps carried out in a linear progression toward an objective. However, the essence of strategy is not to carry out a brilliant plan based on a series of specific steps; strategy is putting yourself in a position wherein you have a variety of options at hand. Options, combined with decisive action and mobility is a superb force multiplier and consequently allows for Strategic Depth of Thinking.
