Agreed. That’s my point. I’d like to see some hard science. B/c like consciousness (scope in time and space) AFAIK, human guilt (debt > predict > submit) emerges from base neurology. Cooperation is more valuable to humans than chimps. They know liability(risk) not guilt(submit).

@curtdoolittle Even for that limited definition of guilt, animals remembering inflicting cost (instead of breaking rules) and exhibiting a guilt-like state I would like to see empirical evidence. Remember that chimps don’t give a damn about reputation.
