November and December are wastelands.

Next year’s calendar thru may is … depressing.

Interesting:

Alien covenant 2 was to release in january – but nope.

Basic issues:

the industry is sort of screwed right now.

About this time last year I said there wasn’t a decent moving until may. It was about right. Pretty lame year.

We have really moved on to movie-serials and they don’t work in theaters.

Horror, Sci-fi (mythos) always is cheap and pays.

White hero movies are on the out.

Non-white movies aren’t on the in.

Increasingly difficult to make a thriller most are failing.

Most dramas unwatchably postmodern – nauseating.

The “we can do this with a woman’ has run its course.

Novelty is defeating ‘meaningful’ in studios.

Search for bankable sequels defeats quality and creativity

Almost no box office starts draw any longer

Only thing bringing people to theatres is spectacle.

My Biases:

– a movie only has to deliver on its promise.

– the quality of actors matters – a lot. Same for camera and editing. But it just has to be competent.

– macho shit doesn’t work any longer, unless with brains.

– I don’t do humor – it’s not funny.

– Drama has to be about smart folks
