Blew my mind.Oct 13, 2018, 11:49 AMGary KnightWindows software is so bad it’s hard to comprehend…..

An entire planet entrenched in inefficiency.Oct 13, 2018, 12:03 PMJay SchmittI find Windows 10 to be the best version ever. Runs perfectly smooth for me.Oct 13, 2018, 12:06 PMJay SchmittApple is focused on making a self-driving car right now. Also possibly a VR headset. They have high end computers for video editors, and those are nice, but they run you $10,000.Oct 13, 2018, 12:08 PMGary KnightJay Schmitt if you are aware of an operating system it’s bad…..

Windows let’s you know it’s present….always in your way…..always clunky…..always autistic engineering against human intuitionOct 13, 2018, 12:19 PMRussell WagnerMe too. Couldn’t believe my eyes!

https://youtu.be/m515f5p5e1wOct 13, 2018, 12:27 PMCurt Doolittlei fking hate windows. I don’t love apple. but I sure love apple ui on unix, and hardware that is reliable.Oct 13, 2018, 12:38 PMCurt Doolittlethey are going the wrong direction because they can’t win those markets. They can however win microsoft’s market. And if they repatriate technology they could take over the monitor market.

I do not understand the management. It makes no freaking sense to me.Oct 13, 2018, 12:39 PMJay SchmittYeah it makes no sense to focus on phones when Chinese manufacturers are quickly commoditizing that market. I would create a desktop computer that has a dozen USB-C 3.1 Thunderbolt ports. Make everything USB-C. Make the computer run silent using new fan technology and dust filters, or water cooling. Include a 32 inch 4K monitor with 144 hz refresh rate and perfect color accuracy. Include a mouse that’s *ergonomic* rather than artistic. Include a dual graphics card setup for easily playing the most recent games at 100 frames per second with all settings maxed out.Oct 13, 2018, 12:45 PMRastko MomcilovicThe only Windows that were worth something were 7. But they realized it was an outlier and did their best not to make the same mistake ever again.Oct 13, 2018, 1:25 PMJay SchmittI don’t get why people hate 10 so much. It’s the best since 7.Oct 13, 2018, 1:34 PMJay SchmittiOS is just not intuitive to me.Oct 13, 2018, 1:35 PMColin HigginsApple is a phone company. Another RIM. They had chances to branch out, but never didOct 13, 2018, 2:02 PMColin HigginsMS is garbage.Oct 13, 2018, 2:03 PMCurt Doolittlepretty much yep.Oct 13, 2018, 2:03 PMRastko MomcilovicWell it’s better than 8, I’ll give you that. What I dislike about 10 is that it forces updates on you (it’s not a problem for a home consumer, but if you’ve ever worked with large systems running bunch of legacy sw, it’s kind of a big deal). Also it really intrudes on your privacy, and is starting to go in the direction of sw as a paid service. Finally (what happened to me) is that if your mb dies frying the cpu with it, and you go buy a new mb and cpu, it will conclude you’ve installed it on a new pc and spam you with that authentication warning. And you can’t authenticate because it’s a digital license so there’s no code.Oct 13, 2018, 2:07 PMMemphis KhanWindows 10 is so bad people will buy refurbed computers that are ten years old with windows 7 for the same price as a new one today. Not so much with 10, but you saw it a lot with 8 and up.Oct 13, 2018, 2:18 PMJay SchmittI tried Linux for a few hours and it was horrific. iOS feels like I’m back in preschool, but at least it shaves 2 seconds off the time it takes to render a 4K video.Oct 13, 2018, 2:20 PMJay SchmittI think the bulk of hate for Windows comes from people who aren’t accustomed to using it, or who are forced to use crappy work software with it.Oct 13, 2018, 2:22 PMCurt DoolittleIt comes from being aware of better operating systems.

windows is a shit operatiing system that and windows shell worse.

osx so far is the optimum combination of unix underneath and that amazing ui on top of it. So you can do either hard core or casual.

I tried to fix a windows machine a few months ago, and omfg. what a catastrophe, and it keeps getting worse.Oct 13, 2018, 2:24 PMNick HeywoodBbwwuuhhaahhaa 😀😁😂😃😄

Some’o’you mad b’tards know why I’m laughin’ 😀😁Oct 13, 2018, 2:46 PMNick HeywoodP.s.

windows’n’iOs/MacOS shouldn’t be mentioned in the universe!

Msoft builds toys! The rest wanna do shit!Oct 13, 2018, 2:47 PMJoe FossSomeone’s been up to date on all the leaks

Also, in regards to the desktop market – it’s dying a slow death. But Apple’s strategy seems to be nibbling at the market from below, by improving the performance of their tablet processors. And tablet sales are growing. Compound that with the “what is a computer” commercial and the direction becomes obvious.Oct 13, 2018, 3:26 PMJay SchmittI don’t think desktops will ever go away, because of the advantages of the form factor and interface devices (nothing can beat a keyboard and mouse…yet). Plus you can’t cool a CPU with a big heat sink and fan in a tablet.Oct 13, 2018, 3:43 PMCurt Doolittle^ yep. principle problem is heat dissipation vs performance, and it’s the bugaboo of the tech stack.Oct 13, 2018, 4:15 PMJay SchmittOne solution is to have the computer off-site, and have the screen receiving signal wirelessly. But you run into the problem of lag. Maybe there could be a way to create the illusion of zero lag?Oct 13, 2018, 4:21 PMCurt DoolittleOther than for games, the issue we face with current technology is actually throughput still.

I can ALMOST drop the OS with the browser and replace the microsoft stack. When that happens microsoft is dead. Not there yet but getting closer every year.Oct 13, 2018, 4:22 PMJames Smithwell thats because they ruined it after 7 with their focus on touch, the bland reality is windows works with everything you need. apple doesn’t bother with osx, its a dead platform.

its also clear that google has won the OS war for mobile, i cant see $2000 iphone trend continuing,

i buy $300 andriods, motorola g6 does everything a mobile phone needs to do, and it isnt slow at it. and i dont care if i drop it.Oct 13, 2018, 4:57 PMArman GhaffariI like windows better than macOS. I like iOS better than android. I bet you’ve never argued against somebody like me before.Oct 13, 2018, 5:12 PMCurt DoolittleMost people think they are more novel than they are. WHen this subject is a dead horse. ;)Oct 13, 2018, 5:31 PMJoe FossWhile there will always be PC purchases, the market has been steadily slowing down for almost 10 years. Regarding heat dissipation, you have no idea how aggressively power optimization is being pursued.

And unless you’re dependent on a particular piece of software, Curt, you can already drop MS and make the move to Linux. I used all three major operating systems at work, and I can say I like Linux the best.

I don’t like the idea of served services for obvious reasons. Maybe a next revolution will be the personal server.Oct 13, 2018, 11:43 PMCurt DoolittleI understand all these things. yes.Oct 14, 2018, 12:33 AMJoe FossDid I spill some spaghetti?

BTW, did you have a chance to look over the question I sent you?Oct 14, 2018, 12:45 AMCurt Doolittlei answered in the main feed. yes.Oct 14, 2018, 12:55 AMJoe FossThanks, I’ll look it upOct 14, 2018, 12:56 AMCurt Doolittlehttps://www.facebook.com/curt.doolittle/posts/10156702282487264Oct 14, 2018, 12:58 AM
