Um. the byzantines did well, and so do the chinese, japanese and korean. But that is because there is greater genetic distance between them than there is between us and west asians.

@curtdoolittle Are there any societies that have been exposed to it and managed to avoid falling ill (or even that just took longer to succumb) that perhaps we can learn from? Perhaps some level of constant violence is nessisary to keep things pack oriented and not slide to the herd?
