(FYI: as I understand it, the Carolina ‘southern drawl’ is a mixture of british received pronunciation mixed with Celtic (Scotts Irish) sing-song. Just as the mid-atlantic american accent is a mixture of american versions of received pronunciation and the more monotone germanic. These are, like french court language that feminized the more masculine german of the Fanks, an “affectation” (signaling). )
