(Great brief conversation with Moritz Bierling about his observations of America. He caught everything important – although It’s clear he didn’t see old New England or the old south. He says he’ll write something about it. I hope so. I want to do the same for germany so I can hopefully deflate the german character and how it is sustained. He has other ideas that sound promising for germany and europe, as well.)
