North And South, Vs Middle.

Well, you know, the old Maine and Boston accents, and the southern drawl, all have the same origins in scots-irish. It’s rather obvious once you’re aware of it. At least in Maine and Massachusetts both are disappearing – largely due to media saturation. In the Elizabethan era, the English spoke much like current scots. I know my ancestors did, because I can see it in their writing – which was phonetic. Languages get lazier over time.
