If you meet members of the persian diaspora, despite the color of their eyes, hair and their very slightly heavier features, they are obviously white in morphology, but even more so in behavior. I don’t know if it’s the class that migrated out, and I know there is some timidity in the community because of it, but aside from the hair, ‘the way the mind works’ is pretty obviously ‘white’. I know I have two ‘friends’ who left because they were persecuted for being ‘white’, and because they would not go fight in the Iraq war.

On the other hand, I was in college when the iranian revolution broke, and the iranian crew in the pool hall started talking tough, and had to pick up my cue with the rest of the ‘americans’.

They disappeared overnight. All of them. The entire Iranian population of the university.

A little semitic in their ethics ( ethic of the bazaar not ethic of the market ) but otherwise identifiable as ‘us’.
