If your society is defenseless militarily it is your fault for not devoting sufficient effort and resources to defenses. If your society is colonizable, then you have not worked hard enough to prevent colonization. If your society is convertible, then you have not devoted enough resources to resist conversion. If your society is deceivable you are not devoting enough resources to preventing deception. If you lack liberty, you are not devoting enough resources to the violence required to prevent tyranny.
