This is a solid truth that’s worth quoting and repeating.
Islam conquers from the bottom the way the west conquers from the top.

If you observe russian behavior it is far closer to muslim ethics than to christian – because it is a low trust society like the muslim and not a high trust like the christian.

FWIW: Linquistic analysis makes it obvious he’s from islamic culture, and I don’t doubt he understood the difference between the primary values of both civilizations – simply because this is a very ‘western’ way of thinking and he was in an environment where we teach the western analytic method but also contrast with other cultures.
I think his thesis could have been expanded upon but given it’s simplicity it’s pretty useful. And we know why, historically our cultures diverged. Because europeanism began as an aristocratic military organization and christianity only as a mocement for womenand slaves, while the fertile crescent was a region of constant conflict from collisions of four continents and an endless supply of raiders from all directions. Then islamic civ began in no small part as a revolt against tribal chieftains, and a long history of conquerors and oppressors who were abusive. In other worlds western top down (like china) and islam bottup up. And the infighting between persia and europe made it possible. And the Nicean attempt to convert christianity from a middle eastern informal system to european formal system made it intolerable, especially for the people of the peninsula.
I wouldn’t doubt he was influenced or given the idea, but he clearly understood the meaning of it. Unfortunately like many thinkers he didn’t solve the problem. That is, that monarchies are far more durable and reliable than democracies, and that the system of government is all but irrelevant if you have rule of law of the natural law, which is effectiely dispute resolution by who ‘paid’ for something.
My complaint about the west is the absolutely devastatingly foolish ambition to spread democracy that just incdreases infighting and corruption, instead of rule of law and a court system and reliable police to enforce it. The tendency of democratic governments is to get involved in everything. Where the natural law and rule of law, are just about who owns a thing and pays for a thing.
There is a value to western naivety becaues it is part of our high trust of one another. Btu we are unlike all other people in the world, and we are often foolish that what works for us will work for others, who do not have that trust, and whose politicians are not trustworthy.

–“Billions globally are convinced that the collective West and its allies represent the utmost evil – the civilisation of the Antichrist. (CD: It’s just women). Perhaps only Trump’s return to US leadership, or the onset of a full-blown civil war there, can save the world from Apocalypse or at least delay it. Democrats, globalists, and neoconservatives are leading humanity straight into the abyss, which, strictly speaking, is the demonic mandate.”– Alexander Dugin (RU)

I am pretty confident I’ve done solid work in defining religion as well or better than anyone, as well as explaining the cognitive reasons for it.

Islam doesn’t matter. It’s just ‘behind’ because half the population has an IQ under 84, and is entirely uneducated.

–“Q: Have you written anything on the Islamic “golden age” or the Christian “dark age”?”–

Nothing like a substantive analysis, just short FB or twitter posts to countersignal false claims by all parties. Catherine Nixey’s book is the best on christianity, there are endless sources on the islamic golden age and how quickly it came to an end. Wikipedia entry’s long but it’s correct.

    WHEN
—“Khan (2003) identifies the proper golden age as being the two centuries between 750 and 950, arguing that the beginning loss of territories under Harun al-Rashid worsened after the death of al-Ma’mun in 833, and that the crusades in the 12th century resulted in a weakening of the Islamic empire from which it never recovered.”–

    WHY (Greek Knowledge)
–“The golden age is considered to have come into existence through a gigantic endeavor to acquire and translate the ancient sciences of the Greeks between the eighth and ninth centuries. The translations era was followed by two centuries of splendid original thinking and contributions, and is known as the “golden age” of Islamic science. The era after this period is conventionally known as the “age of decline.”–

    END (Fundamentalism)
–“Economic historian Joel Mokyr has argued that Islamic philosopher al-Ghazali (1058–1111), the author of The Incoherence of the Philosophers, “was a key figure in the decline in Islamic science” and that this led to a cultural shift shunning away from scientific thinking.”–

THE UNEDUCATED IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA
–“In sub-Saharan Africa, roughly two-thirds of Muslim adults (65%) have no formal schooling. The same is true for roughly four-in-ten Muslim adults in the Middle East-North Africa region (42%) and three-in-ten in Asia-Pacific region (32%).”–Pew Research

–“65% of Muslims in sub-Saharan Africa had no formal education—the highest anywhere in the world. By contrast, only 30% of Christians in the region had not enrolled or completed any form or level of schooling”–

Overall, about half of the middle eastern people are functionally uneducated. And you wonder why they’re poor. Without a reformation of islam and an education system built on that reformation it’s no wonder that there is a conflict between majority middle class jews, and majorty underclass (not even working class, not even lower class, but underclass) muslims.

I’ve been watching this number for thirty years and it’s not impressive, even compared to india, and it’s insulting compred to china.

The age of religion is over. the need for mindfulness, standards of behavior, explanatory narratives, group strategy, will never end. I’m quite sure that we see the re-emergence of the ‘greek way’ with the odd difference that the feminine version of stoicism is some sort of self help nonsense. But we see it emerging of it’s own volition. How to convert it into something coherent and educable is going to take work.
