Correct. My knowledge is limited to the understanding that the church attempted to create a bifurcated priest peasant class and failed, and that the Stellinga movement was the first documented (that I know of) attempt to restore ‘the rights of anglo saxons’ so to speak.

Minor tweak – religions can provide mindfulness which limits the expression of neuroticism. The question is that given the range of religions including pseudoscientific Buddhism, and scientific stoicism, why don’t we pay the cost of teaching stoicism like the cost of education?
