    Roughly speaking, about 1/4 of people should go through STEM university training, and the rest should graduate high school able to work.

    The problem is that we teach nonsense after 6th grade. Roughly half of all educational hours are wasted.

    In my understanding we should enter people into the workforce between 12 and 14 given their rate of maturity, and teach life tools a few hours a day: money, accounting, economics, basic contracts. In fact, it’s very interesting that we teach all the sciences OTHER than the one that is most important: COOPERATION. Instead of cooperation we teach SUBMISSION.

    If we were to do this we would extend work lives, and reverse infantilization, as well as all but eliminate the difficulty entering the work force. We would have vast programs of teaching-in-the-workplace at very low wages, and produce the highest skilled people in the world.

    We could have fully socialized people, a more competente work force, have children in our late teens and twenties, and far lower costs.

    And we have a mechanism for correcting non-correspondence of the constitution with natural law: the Amendment process—which won’t work in our current demographic situation.

    Do you know many judges you’d trust to implement Natural Law over the plain text of the document?

    I don’t.

    When I hear a “constitutionalist” go on about Natural Law, it’s 99.9% ignorant blather. Curt is the first guy in years to use the term Natural Law in a way that doesn’t make me want to punch someone.

    I suspect Curt provides for decidability whereas others use Natural Law to stand in for “whatever I think is good right now.”

    Curt has done great things for the Common Law that many constitutionalists would throw out with the bathwater if judicial abuse of discretion.

  • Some Of Us Must Be Generals

    Some people bail water to relieve the pressure of the flood. Some people scribe a crack in the dam and let the sheer weight of the water do its work. Almost all people on the right are the former kind, and I am the latter. Western civilization unconsciously, out of habit, solves problems early, honestly, directly, and openly – as is necessary among a militia of peers. However, this is not how one conducts war. A general does not seek valor, heroism, and sacrifice as much as indirection, asymmetry of conditions, and supply lines, during which valor, sacrifice, and heroism are obtained at least expense. I’ve been criticized for my contra-populism for years and the reason is quite simple – populists bail water of immediacy, and generals simply identify all the dams, and where to scribe them so they break of their own accord, with the deluge doing the hard labor while we watch the destruction. We have to do very little because the tolerance for non kin is the product of wealth and order. If we remove the wealth and order, then the tolerance, like the dam will end, and the natural pressure of the conflict will produce deterministic ends. The enemy always has the numbers. We did not conquer and rule the world because of our numbers, or our valor, but our social order, and our technology.
