  • Taxation

by Bill Anderson —-“A small group of people gather together and then invent debts that the rest of some population owes them, then goes about publicizing and collecting those invented debts.”— J R Fibonacci Hunn I think you’re addressing a couple of issues in your larger post: the money system and taxation. Let me address taxation in the quote above. Taxation is an attempt to resolve the free rider problem in group defense. If a group does not defend its territory and resources (including its pool of breeding females) then it will be conquered. This defense and its related expenses is unavoidable. Who pays these costs? Given the choice, many males will choose to avoid paying the costs of defense (understandably having an incentive to avoid the pain and death of war). But the result of allowing some men to free ride on the backs of those providing very dangerous defense services, is that the group may be unable to defend itself and will be conquered. Thus, the fighting males and those with the longest time horizons will bar free riding, by requiring all males to pay for the defense of the group. These required payments for group defense are the origin of taxation, and are unavoidable. Your other point has to do with abuses of the money system (and taxation), which you rightly intuit as parasitism. Every generation must secure its own freedoms, and the price is violence. A people who are unwilling to defend their interests with violence will be conquered, either from without or within.

  • The American electoral system makes us vote given our responsibility for the com

The American electoral system makes us vote given our responsibility for the commons. If we restored property it would fix most. if we restored male head of household it would restore all.

once you start thinking the equilibrium between density and the discount on opportunity, versus sparsity, and the premium on the commons, you understand that value judgements of the urban vs suburban, vs rural people.

The lower density the more responsibility for commons and the more costly are oppportunities. Whereas the higher density the lower responsbility for commons and the lower cost of opportunities.

Hence why density determines value judgements regarding the private and common.

  • Earning Sufferage

I wonder…. let’s say military service of six years, ownership of real property, and a wife are required for male suffrage, and three children, a husband, and real property are required for female suffrage. With suffrage comes a substantial discount in fees (taxation), and a substantial increase in insurance (retirement insurance), and that all such insurance accounts are in the singapore model as retirement savings accounts. There is no community property. Children are women’s property until onset of puberty, then males are men’s property until maturity. A family (corporation) insures society against the behavior of their offspring until they also have families. Schools are only until working age (12/puberty), and after that apprenticeships combined with related classes, for two hours a day.
This basically institutionalizes the late medieval upper middle class model. What happens?

  • Principles of Brehon Law (Irish Common Law)

by Bill Joslin Updated Brehon model: 1) Demonstrated Results. Gauged by the degree at which ones life results from their own will and amount of property maintained. Principle: one’s will (decisions) extends beyond just their domestic and professional life. In other words they direct the actions of many others who rely on the principle for a livelihood (a general, a business owner which maintains a stable of employees, a foundation head which governs the organization) – a judge of last resort within their domain (their business etc) Qualifies you to be a judge on severe matters, be chosen for commons management, be chosen for international trade negotiations, be chosen as supreme judge of last resort. 2) Autonomous agent: employed by another but commands many below. His will extends beyond just his own activities. For example a lower officer, a VP/Director/manager, in a company who has last say (judge of last resort) within his management purview. An officer in militia etc. Qualifies you to be a judge, to be part of the selection committees for supreme judge, trade team, commons management team)(vote) 3) Autonomous Independent – one who does not rely on another for livelihood, but does not command others as well. Self employed, contractors , self reliant businesses like agriculture etc. They answer to no one but command no one. Qualifies you to be a judge on minor issues, argue in court, enforce the law. Select commons management team, trade team etc. (Vote) 4) Independent agent: you work for others, they command your activities, you hold and maintain property, hold no debt, are able to sustain yourself and your family without aid or loans from others. Qualifies you to: enforce the law, bring charges before the court, argu cases on minor issues. Have kids. 5) Agent: you are able to pay your bills, hold a job but don’t own a home (you rent) you take care of yourself (are not a burden) but have reduced “skin in the game). Qualifies you to argue your case before the courts, petition to bring charges before the courts, basic protections from society in exchange for taxes and community service. Can marry and have kids but if they cannot maintain productive contribution (need assistance) they lose their kids. 6) Dependent: a ward of the state or to those who care for you, proven not able to care or sustain themselves without aid. Qualifies you to not be mistreated, can petition to bring charges before the court. Must exchange time and labour in caring for the commons to pay for the social assistance given. Are not considered “self-owned” but rather owned by the state or partially owned by the state or a principle under which care the dependent resides. Not allowed to marry or have kids. Must serve in commons maintenance. 7) Blight: have demonstrated they are not able to function within society without causing damages – professional criminals, repeat offenders. Qualifies you to: no protections by law, to be killed on sight, to be robbed, assualted etc by any member of society without facing consequence. Outside of the law – no protections of law. 8) Everyone serves in the militia and law enforcement. Everyone must contribute back to the commons in either community service or taxes or both (nobody says yes or no to your standing or grants you your rights. You claim your rights by demonstrating independence and extension of agency. This removes gatekeeping but at the same time restricts access to power) prove it and it is yours.

  • Technology: Opinions on BTC, Digital Shares, Digital Title

Initial generations of any technology follow a nearly identical pattern of over-enthusiasm and over-investment by hobbyists reaching the same limitations and failing to circumvent them. The subsequent generations of technology put greater investment in the hard work of solving the limitations, and paying the high cost of reorganizing the entire model if necessary. This is why first movers do not generally make the money that later movers do. I’ve said for years now that : (a) the idea of title registry and fractional shares as a medium of exchange, itself is brilliant, but; (b) proof of work requiring waste heat is a pretty bad design, (c) transaction processing time under proof of work is a bad design. (d) lack of posting (rolling up fragments into a single new share and retiring the old) is a bad design. (e) lack of federation and sharding is a bad design. (look we invented a division of journals and ledgers for a reason.) (f) btc are shares in a vulnerable network and as such a token money substitute persistently retaining that vulnerability, (g) ***I predicted that centralized, monolithic versions of the idea using mainstream technology and maintained by the treasury and banking organizations will succeed where distributed systems will not, for the simple reason that the user interface for, security of, response time for, archival ability for, and insurability by an insurer of last resort capable of restitution of losses, will have all the utility advantages without any of the weaknesses.*** (h) hence the distributed nature of the technology which makes research and development by individuals and teams possible, and provides a cheap means of financial speculation on these technologies, is not as valuable as the fractional share and record of title, and all we are doing is free research and development for the state, and the private banking network, check cashing networks, etc. I am extremely thrilled by the ICO model and self issuance of fractional shares because it totally screws big finance. I’m extremely thrilled by the ability to create a portfolio of digital monies that can only be used for certain exchanges – this will solve the primary problem remaining with that thing we call ‘money’. I am thrilled that we might create something on the order of a gold backed fractional share reserver to remove fiat money from circulation as a defense against inflation, and restoration of the possibility of comparatively lossless saving. However, I have zero faith whatsoever in the durability of any form of encryption, or any distributed software, until there is a firmware revolution – which is a long way off. Two part keys have been with us since we cut tics in sticks of wood – literally since we evolved speech. I haven’t been wrong so far. It is very unlikely that I err.
