WHY DO WHITE MALES DOMINATE THE CEO SUITE

    (interesting thoughts)

    1) CEO’s organize the voluntary organization of invention, financing, production, distribution, and trade, into patterns of sustainable specialization and trade. He specializes in organizing humans using incentives – not traditions, not rules, no threats, not patronage, but incentives.

    2) “Pareto is Everywhere Unavoidable.” So we would expect that CEO’s would come from a random distribution of the upper 20% of the group of candidates in their industry – because everywhere in human society, the upper 20% controls the property (assets) that allow them to influence others sufficiently to organize the voluntary organization of production in to patterns of sustainable specialization and trade.

    3) Communication is challenging for all humans across two standard deviations of intelligence, because frames of reference vary significantly at every standard deviation. A CEO must organize the at the median of the distribution. The operational culture must be organized for the many. At other than outliers, we should expect very smart people both to avoid industries with broad distributions of ability, and categories of problems consisting largely of low trust and impulsivity, and to have some difficulty in managing industries with those of lesser ability (as is the problem in medicine, where very smart doctors interact with staff largely at 95 or below.). The construction industry is a very low trust business, as are most labor industries. Finance, medicine, science, and engineering fairly high by comparison.

    4) Trustworthiness with the money of others is the most important qualification of a CEO, followed by work capacity. Most people not only prefer not to think about their work around the clock, but cannot do so. And work capacity followed by loyalty. People can form trust networks most easily with people like themselves. We demonstrate this selection in all areas of life, but it is most evident in areas of risk.

    5) People risk capital with those that they best understand (just as investors invest in what they best understand.) The more risk, trust, and loyalty required in an industry the lower should be its distributions (). The more empiricism meritocracy, wealth, and limited risk in an industry (technology for instance) , the higher should be its distributions. Or as we have learned from the study of millionaires, it is very often because he is trustworthy, diligent, and hard working person of good character who can maintain networks of loyalties regardless of his social and economic status. And this is what we see.

The reason for white male dominance of the C-Suite is his distribution of talents in the population, his sortition across industries, his mixture of verbal and analytic intelligence, and his western tradition of high trust, legal, and ‘scientistic’ thinking at all levels of society. Or even more simply: the distribution of talents in a population and the constitution of the population suggest that white males would be much more likely to obtain a position for largely cultural reasons: the whole population has been trained for many, many generations to function as a middle class (leadership), and the majority of the population has in fact originated in the middle class gene pool.

Some inheritances are priceless. Some privileges are earned by one’s ancestors. In the case of white males, some of that inheritance is wondrous: The enlightenment, chivalry, common law, the absence of strong central government, and the universal militia. Some of which is best left unsaid in polite company: the delay in reproduction until able to form a nuclear family, and the ostracization of single mothers from every walk of life. The prohibition of the underclasses from reproduction through restricted access to land, and the systematic culling of the population by hanging a troublesome one percent per year over a millennia expanding the genetic middle class into all classes of work, and long term instances of plague that created scarcities of labor.

White males also effectively make up the majority of the world’s natural aristocracy, not only for historical, military and institutional, but for cultural and genetic reasons.

So CEO’s arise from the distributions of talents in their industries, while professionals arise from the distributions of talents in their fields. For this reason CEO’s should constitute a fairly broad distribution in order to manage the voluntary organization of production in an entire population.

Some of us come to very different conclusions in our research because we value results more so than we value symbolism and intellectual fashion. But then our occupations do not prohibit the production of outputs that would offend potential customers in the academy. So some intellectuals are ‘lucky’ enough to be free to state the science rather than obligated to justify wishful thinking. 😉

    Affections.

THE ONLY MEASURE OF A RELIGION …

The only measure of any religion is the economic status of its adherents.

So it is not how you feel. Not how you think. Not what you think. Not what you believe. Not what is said. Not what is envisioned. Not what is written. But what RESULTS from the practice of it. Nothing more. Nothing less.

The greatest trick the devil ever played, was not in convincing us he does not exist, but in convincing us he is god.

Jehovah and Muhammed are the names of the devil – the lie of suffering his means of attraction; the promise of utopia is his means of seduction; and the books of monotheism his means of deceit.

There is but one god: the god we ourselves wish to be, and that we bring into being by our actions.

The other thing I want to address in the stickiness of prices, is that all that happens when prices increase is that it attracts lots of additional rent seekers within the organization and without. Most people wait for opportunity to demand more and wait for a moment of good fortune to demand it, lest their refusal be considered immoral. Yet when prices reverse they display moral indignation that the previous increase in a time of exception has now become the new minimum that they tolerate.

    WHY ARE PRICES STICKY?

    1) Any change that forces reordering of the PSST (network of production) is a transaction cost that all seek to avoid, and avoid more so when risk increase from declining price pressure. People hold out. The entire chain gets more efficient. And they only switch when it’s no longer possible. This is just what people do. Particularly if relationships are involved. The more complex the relations the worse it is.

    2) The individual who lives with little savings and high cashflow demands interprets changing jobs as the highest transaction cost other than divorce or devastating illness.

    3) An entire organization can come apart if you reduce pay, because it affects the entire network of responsibilities of each person.

    4) As the marginal value of talent has increased, and the marginal value of fixed capital has decreased, the influence of shocks on talent places higher risk to the organization- people are very difficult to replace but the best are the first to leave.

    5) Net is that the side effect of little savings and higher consumption at high velocity, is stickier everything and worse adjustment to shocks.

Here in the ‘less advantaged world’ it’s not a problem. Oversupply of labor. Everyone is overqualified for everything. Lack of credit keeps everyone poor. Lack of credit because the government cannot be trusted not to appropriate anything and everything.

    TRANSITIONS IN THE WORKPLACE

    (worth repeating)

1700’s-1800’s, imitation of the military order in business (command and control) driven by british men doing service, getting some money, and going into business in the colonies.

1920-1980 the bureaucratic order of management via socialism, as the family is replaced by professional management.

1980+ the entrepreneurial movement and JIT. (the great purge) the middle managers are fired en mass, and the governments abandon socialism per se.

1990+ the team model brought to america from japan where it was brought in from japan.

2000+ the agile movement into technology brings JIT to Agile(iterations) and Kanban(streams) so that higher operational tempo prevents large errors by using many small changes, requiring lower held inventory. side effect is greater social and interpersonal commitment.

2010+ the social movement into business:

2016+ the agile and social movement spread to the entire business.

WHY: the transition from pure slave labor under the military order, to bureaucracy under the socialist order, to entrepreneurialism and teams, to the purely professional order.

Same happens to organization sizes and durations. Companies rely less on fixed capital and more on tech and talent. Companies get smaller and more specialized.

Careers move from lifetimes to decades.

Now arguable we are in seven year cycles of both.

So when you say ‘social’ all it means is that people practice more ‘discretion’ in the workplace because they do increasingly dynamic or custom or small-run work, and less repetition of the same process (and if they do, they get paid peanuts).

Theoretical limit is we’re all unmarried, all unemployed, and all part time contractors, and companies all make small bits for each other.

WHAT WOULD YOU TRADE FOR MORE INCOME EQUALITY?

Income inequality is the result of objective inequality of value to others – in other words, income inequality is evidence that you are not valuable to others. So, to make yourself valuable to others, what voluntary exchanges could you enter into that would equalize income without impeding the voluntary organization of invention, risk-taking, capitalization, production, distribution and trade?

(Personally I would love it if the lower classes would do my cooking, housework, laundry, yard, home maintenance, and shopping while I am risking everything I own to create a new business, and paying people well by doing it, and am entirely responsible for the outcome. Moreover, if income were equal I would not be able to risk everything I own – nor would most entrepreneurs like me. America invents the future for the world for this reason and americans live better than the rest of the world – albeit more unequally with each other as a consequence. )

  • Why IQ Matters So Much? For Good Reasons:

    1) Pareto effect requires 20% of the population control production through control of private property. The more talented is that 20%, the higher competitive ability and performance of the economy, and the greater prosperity. 2) Norms MUST reflect the average of the polity, and reflect the Pareto distribution of property. 3) About 106 is the minimum IQ necessary for expression of ideas and abstract concepts. This is the minimum IQ necessary for work with concepts rather than manual operations. It takes an IQ of 106 to ‘repair’ a machine, or articulate your ideas. 4) Lower IQ people demonstrate less moral behavior, and higher IQ people demonstrate more moral behavior. 5) Dunning Krueger effect increases as IQ decreases, increasing discord. In truth it is always present except that the effect is general and disruptive in lower classes, and niche and understood in the upper. 6) Those people with IQ below 106, will find it increasingly difficult to find work requiring other than unskilled manual labor or unskilled service labor. If one cannot make use of abstractions to calculate something or other then one will be unemployable, since anything that does not require abstractions is rapidly open to automation. RESULT IS CONFLICT This six factors MUST lead to social and economic discord. AND WHY IS THIS PROBLEM EXTANT? We have ceased our western program of eugenics both in the aggressive culling of criminals from the gene pool through constant hanging, in the suppression of the reproduction of the lower classes through manorialism, in the use of unskilled labor in frequent war, and in the restriction of immigration to ghettos. Worse, we have transferred rates of reproduction from the middle and upper class to the lower classes through redistribution. The eugenicists were correct – but involuntary surgery is difficult for us to accept. The softer method of practicing eugenics is paying the unemployable not to reproduce; limiting immigration to extremely skilled labor; expanding employment into our later years so that minor service jobs are filled by the aged (keeping them healthier), and expanding it downward to youth, so that minor labor jobs are filled by the young. The evidence is that we should decrease time spent in education and increase labor participation both in the young and old. More time in production and activity and less time sitting and listening to propaganda. We destroyed most of the western intellectual advantage in one century, and we can return in the same amount of time. NO FREE RIDES. The west and east differ from the rest, in aggressive programs of eugenics. The west differs from the east in the consequences of heroism: individualism, truth telling, high trust, elimination of corruption, and the economic velocity that accompanies it. THE UNDERCLASSES ARE MAN’S PROBLEM They always have been. They always will be. Until there is no longer an underclass. We did not oppress the underclasses, we defended mankind, civilization and the earth itself from them. Curt Doolittle The Propertarian Institute Kiev, ukraine
