AFAIK Trump’s real position on Ukraine is to force Europe to carry the burden. He wants the US out of the region. To restore pushing russia over the long term into european integration. To shut down iran. And to focus US energy on producing military inventory and repositioning efforts toward Xi’s aggressive china.
FWIW: I can only state that I can usually understand trump because in general I would do the same as he does because I have smaller scale but similar business experience emphasizing acquiring companies, customers, talent, and doing so by negotiation and sales.
