It’s a sloppy shortcut towards “winning” debates and not having to deal with cognitive uncertainty. The New Right’s uniting principles, while they may be simple, don’t instantaneously answer every question for us or eliminate any of the hard work of asking, “How?”— Aedhan Cassiel (flawless) -

Westerners for reasons that predate our written history, always and everywhere solve for the production of consent. The rest of the world does not. The rest of the world solves for production of compliance.

@curtdoolittle Thats not wrong, though you leave out literally all the other non-economic reasons (faith, external threat, natural disaster, kin affinities, etc) people ally to support polities.
Also some of what’s suppressed should be, eg British empire stopped Atlantic slave trade, piracy.Original post: https://twitter.com/i/web/status/975156355869929472

SO that doesn’t change the fact that for about half the population, secession means that they operate a for-profit set of smaller countries, while the people who rally and compete with them in the federal govt, would descend into even deeper financial ruin.

@curtdoolittle Too simple a view imho. There is still a profound advantage in controlling / patrolling sea trade if its paid for by the shippers.
Also #CityOfLondon kept the high margin high leverage world reinsurance industry, most global sovereign trade.

There is a profound advantage but that advantage is asymmetric. American standards of living would drop to european levels or lower without our military and financial controls – which is why china(economic and political), iran(oil bourse), and russia(weaken nato) want to end it.

It’s not a point of view. It’s a set of measurements, and it’s included generally in the field of political economy in the studies of bureaucracies, corruption, rule of law, trust, credit extensions, economic velocity, growth, purchasing power and equity.

As far as optimum goes, that is, the maximum redistribution with the minum political resistance. This is only possible in homogeneous kin groups, which is why it’s only possible in small heterogeneous north sea peoples, and never has been otherwise. We can argue about japan as well.

@curtdoolittle So cultural unity counts. Sure.
How would one calculate any such “optimum”? What are the factors that change with tech or economy or faith diversity?Original post: https://twitter.com/i/web/status/975158769838706688
