The germans have always been the heart of europe, and the holy roman empire the reason for western delopment of rule of law. The atlantic coasts succeeded with sail faster than the scandinavians germans with the territorial Hansa. but like athens and sparta we need both navy, and army, and frankly we need america-rome, and that’s air forces. The western model of civilzation succeeds because a man doing his duty regardless of rank is due equal respect, equal rights under the law. This is not practiced by any other people on earth.
