Yes of course. But what evidence do you have that we can stop the authoritarians. We are currently ‘waiting out’ the demographic collapse of russia and china. But europe is also demographically collapsing. There appears to be hope for Iran. But islam is and remains a threat to all civilization.

That’s clearly false. On the other hand, the world without Pax Americana is increasingly violent, and you will, everyone will, quite obviously, wish for the return of the peace America imposed – because it’s happening already.

We thought the hundred years war was bad. But it turns out that the two century war to end agrarian empires and convert (evolve) the world to industrial technological nation states free of previous wars hasn’t been completed. Why? The anglos are european and presume settlement and mutual adaptation and reconciliation. This is a distinctly european behavior of small states dependent upon trustworthy alliances projected on ancestral empires dependent upon trustless control that populate the rest of the world.
Russia is dying. Iran is closing on restoration of its heritage. China’s communist party prevented the fragmentation and conversion of china into it’s natural nine or more nations. But china has, we think, burned it’s population.
From my perspective we are in an endurance race to see which demographic population can restore its birth rates, and create a homoegenous enough politiy to possess shared strategy, values and culture to survive.
It is quite possible nobody wins.
    And a dark age follows.
    It’s happened repeatedly before.
Bronze age middle east, Iron Age Rome, Middle age India, Modern Age China.

HOW THE FAMILY WAS DESTROYED IN PURSUIT OF CONSUMPTION (THE AGE OF CONSUMPTION IS OVER)
    The family was undermined by:
    (a) mobility (moving to cities for work)
    (b) deliberate zoning prohibiting cities from intergenerational family dwellings.
    (c) Substitution of kin insurance with market/state insurance generally: the social security program etc.
    (d) the introduction of women into the workforce but the siphoning of all their revenue into taxation.
    (e) abortion and the pill
    (f) No-fault divorce and broader family-law regime changes
    (g) the marxist-pomo-feminist movement to destroy the family – on purpose the way the church destroyed the great families of europe by prohibiting cousin marriage.
    (h) the ideological capture of education by women and women’s bias for gut-courses of indoctrination into rebellion – the female movement to evade responsibility and adaptation to intertemporal outcomes rather than temporal empathic ends.
    (i) Education inflation / credentialism
    (j) Resulting high housing costs and size constraints.
    (k) Male wage stagnation due to deindustrialization, financialization.
    (l) The computer revolution that vastly increased demand for white collar work by women at (temporarily) high wages.
    (m) Tech and media shocks (sexual marketplace disintermediation, porn, dating apps; these act on mating markets directly).

    The End of Social Democracy
In my lifetime I’ve seen the end of communism (USSR, China), the end of socialism (South America), and now the end of Social Democracy (Europe).
What’s aggravating is the knowledge that this process was deterministic – meaning counter to human behavior. But the well meaning fools in their arrogance assumed the impossible.
I felt hopeful when in the 1970s we recognized that communism and socialism would fail. I felt relieved when the soviet union fell. I felt justified when 2008 ended the Keynesian economic nonsense for the same reasons. I felt terrified in 2016 with the possibility of a Hillary victory would give her ability to enact her leninism. And I was relieved with the Trump victory. The four years of biden were a catastrophe that only confirmed our suspicions. And now trump is using shock and awe to reorganize the world because the american subsidy of world defense and markets is no longer sustainable.
I have doubts whether he can fix the bureaucracy but I suspect hisi reform of the world order will be successful. The net result however is that social democracy has played out exactly as predicted, just as socialism before, and communism before had done so.

EUROPE: IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW YOU FEEL.
The USA cannot fund its internal and external demands any longer. It hasn’t been able to for over twenty years. So the point is very simple: we have to deal with china. We have lost all interest in the middle east, and parties there appear willing to take up the mantle. Europe has to carry its own water. Period. End of Story. There is nothing else do say.
We have been trying since Bush1 to get europeans to carry their weight. We warned germany not to bet on russia. We screwed up by not bringing russia into the fold after the collapse. But that was your fault as much as ours.
You’re dying demographically. And you’ve been dropping back economically for twenty five years. We’re sort of tepidly holding on. But we are going to have to return to. hemispheric defense because we can’t carry your water – especially when you’re the reason our own people want to copy your failed policies.
Trump is using ‘shock an awe’ to reorganize the world because doing so politically and advisedly for decades has failed.

I want to add that black on black violence in america is just about to reach more internecine murder than the total number of slaves ever imported into america. Not only are african-americans, at 14% of the population responsible for 50% of crime, but the IQ distribution means more than a third are effectively unemployable in america’s modern technological economy. This proximity between can-and-have vs cannot-and-don’t-have is a source of constant tension, and the crime is the release of that tensions.

This does not mean we should not work to help one another, it means that there are very few solutions that can be solved within that diverse a polity. 🙁

  • TEN TRUE THINGS … THAT ARE UNCOMFORTABLE via Grok, via vittorio @IterIntellect

TEN TRUE THINGS … THAT ARE UNCOMFORTABLE
    via Grok, via vittorio
    @IterIntellectus

Here are 10 things that are demonstrably, evidence-based true—yet the vast majority of people will fight you, get defensive, or change the subject the moment you say them out loud:
    1. You are not special.
Statistically, genetically, and cosmically, you are average-to-above-average in a few narrow ways and utterly ordinary in almost everything else. The universe does not have a plan for you. Your existence is a fluke.
    2. Most of your beliefs are not your own.
You adopted them from your parents, culture, social circle, or the algorithm to fit in and feel safe. If you’d been born in a different country/era/family, you’d believe the opposite with the same certainty.
    3. Talent is mostly a myth.
What looks like “natural gift” is almost always early exposure + thousands of hours of the right kind of practice + luck. The people who seem effortlessly brilliant just started earlier or hid the grind.
    4. Looks matter enormously.
Attractive people get paid more, trusted more, punished less, helped more, and promoted faster—literally from the cradle to grave. Denying “pretty privilege” doesn’t make it disappear.
    5. Your personality is not fixed.
It keeps shifting with age, hormones, trauma, meds, social environment, and even gut bacteria. The “real you” at 20, 40, and 70 will be three different people who would
    probably annoy each other.
    6. Most jobs are socially useless or activ ly harmful.
Huge chunks of the economy (corporate law, advertising, middle management, derivative trading, etc.) exist only to shuffle paper or extract rent. Very few people are actually solving real problems.
    7. Intelligence is largely genetic and mostly fixed by adulthood.
IQ is 60—80% heritable, and no amount of mindset podcasts, nootropics, or “growth mindset” will move you more than ~10—15 points. Some people are just permanently smarter than others, and that’s unfair.
    8. Democracy is mostly theater.
Voters have almost zero influence on actual policy.
Elections are emotional pageants; the real decisions are
made by donors, bureaucrats, and entrenched interests
long before you cast a ballot.
    9. You will never “find your passion.”
Passion is cultivated through mastery, not discovered. People who love what they do got decent at something first, then the dopamine loop kicked in. Waiting to feel passionate keeps most people drifting forever.
    10. Almost everyone is faking it to some degree.
Confidence, happiness, expertise, relationships—most people are winging it and hoping no one notices. The ones who look like they have it all together are usually the best actors.
