    Men have a thing for ‘devices’ like women have a thing for accessories. I can’t remember the study but basically the more gears and stupid stuff a thing has the more interested a male will be in it. Some test where they brought men into rooms and let them get bored for a minute and watched what they demonstrated an interest in, and the mechanical stuff just won every time. The whole transformers thing took advantage of this basic idea, and its why gaming and programming is so hypnotizing and consuming for men.

  • I dunno. I loved my wife more than life itself, for the better part of twenty ye

    I dunno. I loved my wife more than life itself, for the better part of twenty years. I was a better person, happier, more successful with her than without. We had an enviable marriage for a very long time, and were the consummate power couple. Unfortunately illness did to me and our marriage what friction does to most – I did not survive cancer and consequent illnesses the same person, and for a long time saw nearly every stress, obligation and demand a life threatening burden. I have loved every woman I’ve shared life with, and cherish each of them. So I don’t have the same opinion of other men. My chief argument is against the legal system that is so against men now, that it is literally suicidal to get married and have children. Never again let pandora out of the political box. But I adore women. Always and everywhere.

  • Man Is Amoral

    Man is wired (evolved) to know what is in his interests, what will cause retaliation, and what will purchase options on future cooperation, and that he must punish cheaters(defectors). It’s just in our interests, increasingly, to act morally, because of the returns on moral cooperation, but if you look at history and if you look at the total absence outside of western civilizatino of high trust other than perhaps japane (which sacrifices truth for it), then the answer is just the opposite. If I accomplish anything I hope to eradictate is christian/rousseauian/feminine fantasy that man is wired for morality. Man evolved to be eminently practical: the act predatorially, parasiticlaly, reciproccally, and to invest, as opportunity presents itself. We are just an extension of the laws of physics, and our only difference is the ability to use memory to keep accounting of whether we’re gaining or losing over time in an environment of possible cooperation.
