    “CURT, PLEASE DEFINE MINDFULNESS?”

—“What do you mean when you use the word “mindfulness”?”— Andrew Cordeaux @AndrewCordeaux

    1) I mean the physical, cognitive and emotional discipline to control the subject of attention on the present intent, insulated from distractions whether personal, environmental, or interpersonal.

    2) But with preference for the stoic method (self authoring, virtues of action), the epicurean objective (within one’s control), testimonial (scientific) knowledge, the play (ritual), and team sport, festival, and feast (celebration).

    3) The buddhist method, originally practical and insular evolved into semi-mystical, and survived the attack by monotheistic abrahamism, where the western schools that were practical and action oriented, were destroyed by design by the Abrahamic conquest and dark age.

    4) East asian ritual, and Hindu ‘way of life’ survived as well. Each of these methods of physical, mental and emotional discipline reflects local demand given local degree of agency during the period of transformation. (although buddhism was imposed on japan unfortunately).

    5) So I use ‘mindfulness’ in the sense that all groups sought to meet demands for some technique of achieving mindfulness of their eras by slightly different means. Since buddhism developed the most direct analysis of the objective, the terminology evolved into a universal.

    6) But as in all things, the stoic method, epicurean objective, and scientific(empirical) paradigm, and pursuit of agency(dominance) rather than withdrawal (submission), reflect the european rather than african, semitic, hindu, east asian metaphysics: realism, naturalism, agency.

Think for a moment. We have the capacity remember. With memory we can outwit the current course and capture the difference. But memories are calorically expensive, as are brains. So, what is the caloric return on information (facts) and knowledge (general rules)?

    This is 100% true.

This is why they fear your Agency and all that it gives you.

High Agency people don’t NEED to spend to feel good.

    3. So the presumption in the literature is that it’s ‘evidence’. If it is just communication, then the central problem is that humans innovate to lie (cheat) more than they innovate to compete (produce).

It is inappropriate because the signal system is false. If the employee hits on you that’s fine. Otherwise it’s purely a professional interaction with the employee treating you in a friendly manner simply because it is the optimum means of customer service.

  • Jordan Peterson’s Health

Yes Peterson’s in a clinic to get off Klonopin (Clonazepam). Yes he had a reason to get on it (terminal cancer diagnosis of his wife). Yes his wife has rather miraculously survived. Yes he will be fine. The reason to go to clinics if you can afford it, is to reduce the burden of care on your family, and to insulate them from your behavior as you go thru withdrawal. Jordan may have low agreeableness, but he is still a very sensitive person, and his career, like that of actors, trains one to be even more sensitive. And so it’s not wonder he sought help (and could afford it.) Testimony Of Shared Experience: I am very similar to Jordan in age, ability, personality, sentiment, and conviction. And because of undiagnosed cancer, doctors thought I was depressed, and was on Clonazepam for years. I quit cold turkey when I realized what it was doing to me. And, while I have many times the willpower and pain tolerance of normal people, it was a brutal physical and emotional experience – including visual auras, panic attacks, hypersensitive nerves, overactive startle response. I can’t imagine what it’s like for normal people. My wife was amazing. I prepared her expectations for it beforehand. I don’t think it took more than about six weeks but I could be wrong. I vaguely remember the effects sticking with me by popping up now and then for months whenever I was under stress. I can still have an overactive startle response when I’m concentrating for long periods. And so, I would not ask a woman recovering from Mrs Peterson’s near death experience to carry the burden of my withdrawal at a time when she needed caretaking herself. I don’t think i’ve been quite right again since getting off it. And I still take an OCD prescription – for more than twenty years – and I don’t know if it’s because of my low level autism, or the consequences of that experience with Clonazepam. (Or the trauma of multiple bouts of cancer, divorce, and related life changes.) I have no idea. I actually don’t mind my OCD. But other people do. ‘Cause my tolerance for illogical speech drops to zero – and my ability to switch contexts does as well. I don’t like being a robot and that’s what happens. Anyway. My sympathies.
