I know I’m from a certain class, but I can sorta get the tattoo thing as an expression of teen independence, or a signal of rejection of the mainstream, but other than an expression of powerlessness, or self harm attention-seeking, the whole piercing thing just escapes me.

@NSKinsella @WorMartiN It’s not incoherent. You’re just uninformed. There are only two primary directions of cognitive development, the extremes of which are the mal (systematizing and confident) and female (empathic and neurotic). We are all a mix. Males and females think, reason, act differently.

Our experience is that the average person we attract has an IQ over 130 and more often over 140, with low trait agreeableness, high trait systematizing, and non-trivial knowledge of the philosophy of science and economics.
If it was easy Hayek would’ve succeeded.

Usually (almost always) it’s a mental illness or drug addiction. In her case, it’s likely “severe and persistent mental illness” that can lapse into drug abuse and destructive behavior (as we have seen from her).
Seems stable to us in the public, but obviously she’s at risk.
