i hadn’t thought about that… but yes, it is on the same level of innovation as Turing, Chomsky and Hayek’s papers. Short and world changing. Although implementation has been weak.

@neuralshroud @Outsideness The Bitcoin White Paper is without serious question the most important philosophical text of our times.

I could go into extraordinary detail as to precisely why this is so, but it boils down to the cost of learning, cost of xmission, ability to negotiate increasingly complex networks of returns, with lower fear of error/failure, AND MUCH LOWER fear of defection from the agreements.

Of the people that will engage in discourse, *and* whose arguments demonstrate an understanding economics, incentives, reciprocity, and mathematics – you will find almost no one other than @EricRWeinstein, @nntaleb and I. The reason is we are more empirical and less optimistic.

Yep. Been saying this forever. Each point of median IQ gain produces multipliers that I can’t put data together on yet, but are THE BEST INVESTMENT RETURN WE CAN MAKE BAR NONE. Same the opposite direction. Each point of loss is the greatest loss a people can take.

@curtdoolittle …there’s a huge asymmetry in competitive ability.

natural law of cooperation. outside it does not apply. i am only interested in maximizing returns as long as the increase martial dominion. my talk of markets is not pacifist but as means of dominion

@curtdoolittle I feared you may have taken my reference of Indios as moralizing on their behalf. I wasn’t. I was merely trying to see how you’d apply your argument in a historical context, where, I hoped, you’d be able to demonstrate the difference between “discretion” & Natural law when….

well thats not logical since right only carries meaning in cooperation. outside it has none. its just utility and preference. my point is that one cannot possess competitive violence without the wealth to acquire martial advantage. you can raid to that point but aftermust rule.

@curtdoolittle I submit to that fact, probably more than you would, which is why I go further & say that might is always & everywhere right. I mean…if we operationalized “might”, in the modern context, it would be impossible to produce w/o superior genetic, institutional & cultural capital

well the indians werent exactly innocent victims, but that aside, as divergence increases cooperation encounters frictions. at some point it isnt profitable. that said, white domestication has served the world well – we just left the job undone for christian virtue signals.

@curtdoolittle Well, say, the European conquest of the New World. Was it a violation of natural law (reciprocity) for Europeans to use superior might to conquer & subjugate the indigenous peoples who populated the Americas?

there is no reason other than cost benefit. evolution is unkind.

@curtdoolittle Or phrased in a different, more familiar way, why should a superior group not kill, conquer or enslave inferior peoples given that latter cannot organize/produce a sufficient incentive (in the form of defense or trade) not to do so?
