Watched “2010 The Year We Made Contact”, the followup to “2001 A Space Odyssey”, and found that the suspension of disbelief couldn’t tolerate the supposed AIs. I work with mostly chatgpt every day for hours. Makes scifi ai’s look childish and archaic.

Yes well we’ve had this same discussion repeatedly. And I suspect these terms are subjective in the sense that what one concerns one’s self with depends upon one’s sensitivity to and investment in normativity. For those less dependent upon normativity, we are not in conflict (yet), while for those dependent upon normativity we are deeply in conflict. This is similar to the spectrum of sensitivity to offense – if we are not treating something as property we don’t care, but if we are we do. SO it depends upon how dependent you are upon others I presume.

Yeah. Dating amanda. She’s indian-white mix. Her kids from a previous marriage were pretty brown. I ‘felt’ the difference when we were out and about. Because usually, me and my very white wives and girlfriends were treated with positivity and respect at all times — where when you’re in a mixed family you definitely feel the difference. I certainly did.
It’s going to get worse all over the world. The outcome is deterministic. I just don’t know how violent will be the process.

hmmmmm…. There is plenty of conflict. There just isn’t sufficient violent conflict. We aren’t there yet. But AFAIK it’s a trigger event question only.

I’m tired of this age of conflict.

We have the solution but implementing it without a revolution is a challenge.

This century has pretty much sucked so far. And I don’t see it getting any better over the next thirty years or so.
If you were lucky enough to live between about 1977 and 2000, especially in Seattle in the 90s I’m not sure the world will see something like that again for decades.
We may have dragged the postwar world into a prosperous modernity by comparison. But our civilization went to hell by suicide in 1914. And without a bit of ‘aggressive correction’ our 5000 year history is going to end ingloriously.
