(Sorry Rothbard, Sorry BHL’s. It is entirely possible to create institutions that assist in inter-temoral coordination between the classes. We do with with banking all day long. But we can’d do it without formal institutions that forbid privatization of public goods.)

🙂 I prefer the term ‘verbose’ myself. lol (A necessary consequence of analytical philosophy unfortunately.)

I’ll comment when and if Nigel approves my friend request?

    You’re awesome.

INSTITUTIONS CANNOT SURVIVE IF THEY EXIST TO DENY PEOPLES AMBITIONS- THEY MUST ASSIST THEM IN ACCOMPLISHING THEM.

In Politics, you cannot tell a group that it may not have something. Even stating it such a thing is irrational. You must tell them that if they want something, there is a way to achieve it. But, our political system doesn’t work that way. It says the only way to win is to defeat the opposition. That’s why we have ideological class, race, religious and cultural warfare.

Our classical liberal institutions could not, and did not survive the addition of the lower classes, women and other cultures into the polity.

    [rational argument off]

See? I said no ‘perceptible’ end to the recession through 2014, and then we run into the next major cycle shortly thereafter, with something major by 2020. That’s just obvious from the demographics, the movement patterns, the concentration of groups exiting the middle, the effect all of it has on generational cycles, and the distribution of ‘useful’ knowledge in the population. Sure, the low point is well behind us, but houses are still cheap outside of the destination cities. And baring some great policy madness, they’re going to stay that way.

(And yes, I’m still sensitive about enduring Steven Salta’s ridicule over writing catastrophe manifestos from a cabin in the woods. 🙂 Oh. I still owe him 100 bucks on that bet on Iran though. I gotta pay up on that one. 🙂 )

    CLASS HUMOR

Romney criticized for being out of touch – rather than being the member of another social class. the implication is that the only ‘good’ ruler is one from the lower classes.

Humor in the upper classes consists of self-ridicule and hyperbolic absurdity — usually amplifying the mundane as if the trivial is important in order to add levity to the conversation. To ask the cookie question of a person in the upper and upper middle classes is a demonstration of that humor.

Conservatism universally conceives of the world as a necessary hierarchy. A hierarchy of responsibility. To conservatives and the upper classes such humor is a compliment that is meant to demonstrate that the speaker has abandoned his hierarchical position with relation to the listener. It is a statement of care-taking.

To the lower classes, and particularly to the left, this can be an insult. To liberals the hierarchical construct is a ‘bad’ on it’s face, so both the humor and the compliment are lost.

In effect, self-ridicule, and hyperbolic ridicule, are means of levity that demonstrate equality. And liberals will never, ever, understand it.

    THE VIRTUE OF SIMPLE RULES

Simple rules compensate for the diversity of human intellectual ability, and the variance in knowledge and experience between the ignorance of youth and the wisdom of old age.

Do not unto others as you would not have them do unto you.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (The golden rules two sides of a coin. They produce different results – you have to adhere to both of them.)

Speak the truth even if it leads to harm.

Keep your promises even if it causes you losses.

Adhere to manners, ethics and morals even if they make no sense.

Take no other person’s words personally – they are a self description of the speaker.

Save one fifth of everything you make.

Read at least one book every two weeks.

Sample every bit of life that you can – we get only one chance at it.

Master a craft, it is how you become valuable to others.

Master an additional new craft every seven years.

Become a skilled and patient lover.

Keep a dog. It will teach you loyalty and love.

If you choose to marry, choose well, and late in life. Marrying young, romantically and poorly is the most expensive error we all make.

There is only one law, and that is property: a prohibition in the involuntary transfer of property by violence, fraud, theft of indirection.

We are all different. Political equality is achieved not through majority violence, but through exchanges between groups facilitated by institutions. Institutions that compensate for the inter-temporal differences in our productivity, because the incorrectly named division of labor is instead, a division of knowledge and labor in time: we function on different time frames. The future is kaleidic. And we build that future as a division of knowledge and labor and time — not because we agree upon it. But because it is what is possible for us to achieve despite our inability to agree.

Anything else is not high mindedness, but brutal theft under the mythology of communal government.
