    *PROPERTY IS THE ANSWER*

Property is equal in explanatory power over human cooperation, to physics in explanatory power over the causes and consequences of the physical world.

    Humans minds are difference engines.

But most of the time, they’re calculating differences in property.

We just didn’t quite grasp how broadly people applied ownership.

    THE FOUR MORAL SCIENCES

    1) Reason = The instrumental logic of Perception.

    2) Mathematics = The instrumental Logic of Relations

    3) Physics = The instrumental logic of Causes

    4) Property (Economics) = The instrumental logic of Cooperation

VERY HARD TIME THE PAST FEW WEEKS

    (venting)

I had to miss our London conference, and it was possibly one of the most saddening times of my life. For about a week I couldn’t sleep. And at present I’m still in limbo waiting for the government to process forms. (argh)

Meanwhile, no income, no access to funds, and the level of person you deal with who has total control over your life, is one step above Guido the mobster. Most IRS people appear to be lower middle class and upper proletarian bill collectors, with the same ethical standard.

Its not even that I can’t or won’t pay any given fine. It’s that I can’t get access to money because they use bureaucracy as a weapon of punishment.

This is one of the problems with the ‘aristocracy of everybody’ nonsense of the enlightenment. The cops are from the upper proletariat, the government workers are from the middle and upper proletariat, and the management is from the lower middle class.

Government is, by and large, the refuge of the lower classes.

I am fairly sure that aristocracy is better than proletarian statism.

    INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT TEAM AND PROCESS

(cultural observations) (transparency into the process)

The standard dev model that we practice in Seattle, and in san francisco isn’t followed here in Kiev. It’s partly cultural, in that males here are ‘different’ in their trust, expectation, and collaboration methods. Its partly that most of the development here is support, web, and ‘do it cheap’ work. So no matter who you talk to, almost everyone sounds like a 1999 tech boom developer.

So, you can’t sort of hire people and expect them to have the full suite of product developer skills and habits.

Second, I’ve learned a lot over the years, partly at Microsoft, and that is to produce a feature complete product, and then refine it. The reason for this is that most product management and technology people in most organizations try to overly simplify the software. And I didn’t want that. The web only exacerbated this problem, and so did the apple and iPhone design ethic. Microsoft has taken it too far, in that they have thrown the kitchen sink into their products. But we are trying to develop something very special (the full impact of which will take another year of work to be visible). And I need a rich desktop level of application written for the web, with rich features.

I am perfectly happy throwing away code if I’m going to produce something better. And so I prefer low investment up front, and then to harden later. If you know what you want to build, and you’re clear abou tit, then you can work with high up front investment. But I can’t do that because we’re engaged in research and development, and so we must buy experimentation cheaply.

So, we sort of work like this:

    1) I have this enormous list of features.

    2) Starting from the foundation on the back end we have built from the back to the front, and are now building from the front user experience and modifying that back end.

    3) I make a list of features we need to work on, make the drawings, fill out an excel spreadsheet, and work with Denis on the general design. It is very loose. If there are any strategic questions we round-table them and get everyone’s interest and criticism.

    4) Denis implements the user interface, improves the design and finds all the holes in it. Then we debate back and forth. I want a rich desktop interface that i can sell. Denis is always trying to minimize the information density and produce something reasonably clean.

    5) Vitalii refines the UI and makes al the complex JS work.

    6) Kirill integrates the back end, because he basically ‘owns’ the core engines: Organizational Dimension System, Workflow, Messaging, Currencies, and the Database.

    7) Heavy lifting (stuff that has to be ‘right’) and performance is done by Alex.

    8) Then I do the testing and bug reporting.

    9) Then they all divvy up the bugs and changes I put through and do the work at their discretion.

It took a while but it’s a pretty good workflow. It’s not anything like ‘feature teams’ that I’ve generally used. It’s totally organic. And it works.

But, since we are done with the R&D phase, and have our model figured out, soon I’ll have to basically double or more, the size of the staff, and harden the application rather than conduct R&D. And that means more than doubling the burn rate.

I’d originally planned to spend all of my own money, but the government’s latest torture of me has changed that, and I’m going to pull in some early money.

Given that I expect no less than 10x, I’m pretty sure that’s an easy raise.

(Thanks for listening. Apparently people like this ‘working in public’ thing, like watching pre-industrial silversmiths, cobblers, and potters constructing their wares in open shops. I wish more people did this. It promotes honesty. And we all can learn from each other.)

    I THINK I HAVE A WIN: THE “SOLIPSISTIC – AUTISTIC” ARGUMENT. 🙂

    (useful idea) (theory of mind)

    Step 1 : Theory (done)

Step 2 : Research (in progress)

    Step 3 : Test and falsify (to-do)

MORE: Also, it looks like male brains are created by ‘poisoning’ at every early embryonic stages, and then growing the areas that are not ‘poisoned’. Not dissimilarly to how brain damaged people learn to use other areas of the brain. Coupled with the fact that certain regions and properties can only be grown at certain early stages of development, it’s not possible to regrow some areas. This is why boys take longer to develop. They must develop compensations for ‘poisoned’ features, and girls do not.

The problem for girls, is that they either overdevelop similar areas, or fail to mature them, and solipsism is the result of not enough maturity of development, or too much overdevelopment, to distinguish between their feelings and those of others.

I think narcissism is an attempt to regrow, or obtain functionality that was lost, and can be considered, a property of the Solipsistic-Autistic Spectrum.

Just as Aspies like me are extremely social whenever we can tolerate it, in order to exercise those areas, and gain those emotional rewards. 🙂

We all need a certain level of stimulation to remain conscious, and a certain level of chemical reward to stay happy. The more means of getting those rewards the better. The fewer means of getting those rewards, the more actively we need to pursue those actions which produce rewards.

For me anyway, I get it out of learning and problem solving. And without that particular exercise the obsessive desire of my brain to obtain positive stimulation by the only means possible for it, would crush the ‘me’ that exists in there as an experiential observer and weak influence on that obsessed machine.

This is probably the model we should be looking at. Because at present we tend to see organs and genes as mechanical processes, and the brain as a feat of engineering whose parts are broken or not, rather than as a bonsai tree or topiary the growth of which is shaped by chemistry at precise points in its development.

Humans have very few forms of incentives. I have, in propertarianism, reduced those incentives to statements of property. And while I have a theory of consciousness, I did not yet have an adequate theory of mind. And what this organic representation of brain development means, is that human behavior can be reduced to a small number of reward systems for accumulating experiences (short term) and property (medium term).

Furthermore it is an action-based theory of mind and incentive, developed in time. And ‘action’ always provides greater explanatory power than ‘state’.

We are creatures of action. We act. We must act. And we must act in time.

THERE IS NO ‘WE’. AMERICANS ARE UNITED ONLY BY HOLLYWOOD, EMPIRE AND TAXES.

    (insightful)

The reasons to stay together can be expressed most accurately as a difference in costs. The costs of being together are not yet sufficient to pay the cost of not being together. Now, this argument can be fallacious under assumptions of equality of interest. So the correct statement is, that 5% of males are not yet willing to employ violence to alter the circumstances.

(And I am trying to give them moral, rational, and scientific arguments to support that 5%.)

America will survive as long as new waves of immigrants can leave behind family structures and obtain property and property rights in america FASTER than the existing people seek rents and free riding on the political system that makes those new people arrive.

As such, the american continent, has been, and always will be, either a gold rush where statists profit, or the best and largest and longest running PONZI scheme in human history.

    I think it’s both.

    ENGLISH TERMINOLOGY: NAMES FOR MEALS

Breakfast: first morning meal “Break the Fast”.

Brunch : Late morning breakfast, usually on weekends after sleeping late.

Luncheon: Large noon meal eaten with a group (formal)

Lunch: Small mid-day meal, or at any time of day (informal)

Dinner : The major meal of the day, whether at noon or night, eaten with others.

Tea : mid afternoon snack between noon and evening.

Supper : A casual family meal eaten in the kitchen, or small late night meal.

In most of our history, the mid day meal was the largest, because light was available. Once we began to work outside of the home and farm, the large meal was pushed into the evening. As electric lights made food preparation possible, the big meal of the day has moved into the evening for most of us (unfortunately).

Basically, counter to american propaganda, one big meal a day is sufficient, and four other meals of smaller size are probably the best for you.

TWO ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRIVIA FOR MY UKRAINIAN AND RUSSIAN FRIENDS.

    1) “Subtile” looks like it should be pronounced SUB-tile. The origin is a latin word “subtilis”, meaning ‘delicate’. However, the anglicization of the latin ‘Soob-teel-ees’ dropped the “B” sound, and in modern english it’s pronounced ‘SUH-TUL’. Like “settle”, or “suttle”.

Why do we keep these spellings? English consists of Anglo Saxon, Latin, and French words. The spellings help us identify the origin of the words, how it is pronounced, and many other subtle clues, and help clarify words that have similar sounds but different meanings. (and it’s an anglo thing to be fascinated by minuscule bits of history. Which is why so many historians are british.)

    2) The show will be aired at 10PM – 9 Central. Or 10-9c. Or some equivalent like 9 Eastern, 12 pacific time. The USA is divided into four time zones: Pacific, mountain, central, and eastern. There are very few people in the mountain areas in the middle of the country, so when networks broadcast television shows, they save money by only showing a film or episode three times, instead of four, by combining the mountain and central time zones into a single broadcast. This means that you have to stay up later in the mountains to see your favorite shows. 🙂
