Thanks to everyone who is yet again reminding me how great an intellectual leap it is to transform one’s frame of reference from justificationism and meaning: the tools of imagining, learning and hypothesizing – to criticism and truth: the tools of eliminating error, bias, wishful thinking, and deception from our thoughts and words.
The Critical Rationalists agonize over the severity of this issue in public life. They use it as an example of how politicians deceive the populace. And while I criticize Critical Rationalists for their cognitive blindness (their half-truths), in caring only about the ability to think creatively (intellectual liberty) rather than including the consequence of their philosophy: thinking prohibitively (moral and legal constraint), we are both frustrated by this problem.
It is hard. It is very hard to see the continuum from free association, to hypothesis to criticism, to truth candidate, to tautology. It is very hard to grasp when you are still engaged in ‘learning’, that you are largely engaged in justificationism. And, perhaps one needs a critical mass of knowledge before he can begin to see the world critically.
But while it’s hard it’s still possible.

(No. You don’t get it. I am perfectly happy to host exceptional minorities. I just want to prevent them from doing damage to the host. I don’t want to get rid of them. *I want to own them* in the sense that it’s a superior legal and cultural environment for exceptional people.)

OVERSING UPDATE
Two kicks in the pants today. 🙁
Permissions isn’t right (too atomic) and neither is forecasting (missing the burndown functionality and the dynamic quick report. But things are going so well that we can take the hit.
I take responsibility for not getting more involved. I should have. But I can fix both problems.
We think we have fixed the scheduling usability. And we are almost there on fixing the workspace ‘confusion’ usability.
We have only one serious usability problem that I know if and that’s something Kirill will fix shortly: using workflow “buttons” (actions) across multiple entities.
We have many task entity types and you can define commands for each of them. So we want commands to be reusable so to speak.
But otherwise we are rocking it.
I can’t wait to show it to people in Seattle. If you used timesys It’ll blow minds.

THE MEANING OF COMPLIMENTS
I can think something is sentimentally, allegorically, morally, or rationally moral, beautiful or heroic. Meaning that I agree with your sentiments.
I can admire your attempt at creating an argument – even if you fail.
But that is different from whether your justification is amoral, or whether you facts are questionable, or whether your judgements are biased, or whether you are engaging in wishful thinking, or whether you engage in verbalism, cunning or deceit, or whether you logic is faulty whether or your argument is necessary, or whether whether it is existentially possible, logically sound, parsimonious my stated and so forth.
Meaning I can agree with you sentiments. I can encourage your learning. I can support your attempts.
But I cannot claim that you have constructed a truth candidate.
And most often what people want is confirmation that their sentiments are classifiable as a truth.
The truth is rarely emotionally rewarding.
It just is.
So that is why I am supportive of good people in their journey.
But it is also why I will often agree with your sentiments, values and objectives while at the same time faulting your arguments.
If anything, philosophy is reducible to the science of construction truthful statements in pursuit of truth, whether we like that truth ir not.
Conveniently, the secret of the west’s competitive advantage is our discovery and frequent use of the truth.
So when we share a moral bias against the liars and deceives who have destroyed our civilization, we are pursuing the reconstruction of a truthful civil society and the commons we can create from it.
So we agree on our feelings:,we desire truth.
But stating that feeling truthfully is almost impossible. And I might argue that before my work it was not possible.
But now it is. And it is quite simple: we never know the truth but we can clean our language of error bias wishful thinking and deceit with some effort.
And we can require it of others I public speech.
And we can punish offenders.
And we can clean ourselves and others of falsehoods.
Leaving only truth behind.
This is the greatest transformation of man since Darwin if not since the enlightenment.
Welcome to the revolution.
A sentiment we can all share.

APPLE MICROSOFT.
My prediction was that Microsoft would fail to take control of its future and reform before apple’s dependence upon the iPhone would run its course. And that in search of profits, Apple would chase the desktop out of necessity rather than preference.
With microsofts release of a branded high end laptop; the reversal of the Windows 8 and vista catastrophes; the decision to bring gaming back to the PC; then all that is left is to (a) adopt apple’s admin UI scheme, (b) start work on replacing the “digital equipment” era kernel running long processes, with a Linux like kernel running temporary processes.
I dunno.
Using Windows still makes me angry. But I see a glimmer of hope after a two decades of tragedy.
