Ukraine has become synonymous with corruption. But what has been overlooked are the extraordinary difficulties and circumstances that have caused and reinforced corruption over the 25 years of its independence. What has also been overlooked are the remarkable dual revolutions in which ordinary Ukrainians participated – by the millions – to free themselves from corrupt bureaucracies and oligarchs.

Unlike its East European neighbors who enjoyed western mentoring and investments almost from the very first days of their independence, and EU membership within a decade thereafter, Ukraine had very little support in that regard. Its pro-Russian and pro Soviet east and south weighed like an albatross around its neck. Its patience with, and tolerance for, the full bloody lot of ex-Soviet officials and bureaucrats (many of whom did not even identify strongly with Ukraine) simply left these earlier blood-suckers in place to exploit the lawless post-Soviet environment. Its huge legacy burden of entitlements, pensions, Chornobyl, massively wasteful energy systems, etc. were hurdles that very few nations had to endure. Yet, Ukraine endured and even took on Russia while laying the foundations for a lawful and civil society.

When we look across to Greece or Italy or Spain we find countries that have had every opportunity to develop good governance and sound economies…..instead they are wracked with corruption and crushing debt. We can look across to Latin America where almost every country is an economic basket case (except Pinochet’s Chile) and riddled with oligarchs, corruption, and social injustice. We can look towards such states as California and Illinois or cities such as Detroit and New York that are subsisting on subsidies and are so deeply soaked in corruption that it is hard to even decide on where to start cleaning up.

There never is any justification for corruption and abuse. And I am not excusing Ukraine. But everything has to be considered in context, and there are very few countries whose people have stood for months in freezing cold and suffered deadly battles with their own security forces to ensure a better and more just society for themselves and their children. There are very few countries that have started the long and difficult process of cleaning out their stables (and have made great strides in the course of the year) while fighting a war against a superpower.

The U.S. is doing the right thing in recognizing that Ukraine has already “fundamentally transformed” itself and is on the path to national greatness. It would do well for other Ukrainians to lend a hand to Ukrainians (as Canada and Poland have consistently done) because its friendship and good will may mean a great deal more to their future than Russia’s cheap baubles and bangles.

Megan Cyloneight is trouncing me in PM (deservedly) for my piece on Women’s Instincts. (Aren’t you Megan Cyloneight?)

So here are the reasons for my argument:

    1) provide counter-propaganda arguments against feminism.

    2) Illustrate why I want women to have their own house of government (caretaking), as well as houses of labor(labor), commerce(production) and justice(war), instead of majority rule by women (which is in practice what we have today.)

TODAY WE REMEMBER THE ACT OF RUSSIAN GENOCIDE AGAINST ETHNIC UKRAINIANS

Even if the scale of the nazi killing of Jews is to be believed, the Russian murder of 4-7m Ukrainians intentional starvation equals if not exceeds those numbers.

The Russians demonise the nazis like Muslims demonise crusaders.

They argue ethnic cleansing of Eastern Europe by the nazis was to be feared – despite it being only a single plan and despite the purpose of general staffs being to create plans as ideas and experiments.

But the Russians didn’t just have a plan in a German file drawer. They did it. They exterminated vast numbers of the peasantry.

I talked with someone today that recounted cooking and eating bark from the trees to try to stay alive. Every family has these stories.

It is one thing to kill aliens. It is quite another to kill kin, then decades later claim the same people you committed genocide against had more to fear from Germans – who produce prosperity with everything they touch – while claiming brotherhood with this who were the victims of your genocide.

What kind of mind invents such big lies?

What kind of person forgives his people for making kin disappear in the night?

We know the Germans have repented.

Why have the Russians not only failed to repent, but once again committed a crime of murder against Ukrainians; and broken the truce of the Great War which was to respect borders?

What kind of people monopolise the news and intentionally manufacture false news stories?

What kind of people create a political bureaucracy to spam the Internet with their lies and propaganda?

What kind of people fail to learn from their repeated failures?

What kind of people participate in these lies?

What kind of people believe these lies?

    TRUTH

    unite the circumpolar people’s.

    Truth is enough

The western experiment is a failure.

    Russians do not need lie.

They need only expose western failure.

https://agenda.weforum.org/2015/11/what-if-robots-learn-to-say-noCAN ROBOTS LEARN TO SAY ‘NO’? NOT UNLESS….

All these AI folk out there trying to figure out how to make a moral machine, and fearful of immoral machines, or even amoral machines. And the reason is that they haven’t a clue what makes a moral being: non-imposition of costs. Or stated obversely: respect for property.

In other words, imagine everything in the world that was owned, was registered in an enormous global ‘bitcoin’ database (a ledger). And that, just as we only think of (if we are moral) using items we ‘own’, robots did the same, and moreover, that they not only used only their owner’s property, but only used it such that it imposed no cost.

And if we could make them fast and sensitive enough (I am not sure we can) then they could even violate some property when life is endangered.

Interestingly enough, this is a solvable problem. It’s a largely computable problem.

I won’t get into the uncomputability of the alternatives… that should be obvious.

Yep. You gotta read, re-read, and think about some of the stuff I write. Sorry. I do too. 😉

Writing a proof, which is most of what I try to do, does not mean that I understand all the implications of what I write when I write it. I often go back and say “wow… I wrote that? Without the aid of hallucinogens?”

At the time I wrote it I was doing what you would think of as mathematics or engineering. I don’t always see the implications of it until I review it later.

The degree to which I discover things while attempting to construct proofs is not easy for others to see. But I tend to stumble upon insights I tend only to vaguely intuit, and only understand as I am writing the logical consequences.

This is what Mises meant but could not articulate. I wish I could talk to him for just an hour or two. Same with Hayek.

I have no problem defending or ruling other peoples. These are both moral and costly.

I have a problem with governing other people. And profiting from it.

    Why?

Because defense and rule of law are universal truths. Governing: producing commons, are preferences and strategies.

I consider that none of even the most enlightened people’s business. And worse, beyond their capacity.
