    Just had a thought in response to you question the other day. And I think it’s this: (as a vast overgeneralization )

    Women are less willing to pay rational behavioral adaptation costs, and more willing to pay social adaptation costs. The former requires they monitor their thinking and change it, the second means they feel the circumstance and adapt to it without rational demand.

    Men however must constantly outwit the hunted, and so readily adapt to facts, regardless of social constraints.

    (My ex-wife Allora was one of the few women (and there are quite a few) that are intellectually attached, and sufficiently emotionally detatched such that they can adapt their thinking in response to pure ideas. It’s probably why we were such a devastating team.)

    We evolved as pot-makers and clay sculptors: constructing what we can with our hands. But the universe beyond our touch is discovered by the hammer and chisel, steadily carving the masterpiece of truth from the stone.

    Truth is subtractive. What remains after we pull away error, bias, wishful thinking, suggestion, pseduoscience and deceit, is what remains for us to wonder at the truth of it all.

    Humans can evolve into the gods we seek.

    That is our only purpose.

    To carve away our ignorance, and save ourselves and the universe from our shared ends – as gods.

    In lower trust countries people justify their various forms of lying just as we high trust people justify the externalities caused by our combination of linguistic conveniences, methodological habits, variations in morality and ethics, and of course political correctness

    That does not mean that just as we live considerably better than all these lower trust societies, that we world not yet again live better than we do now if we spoke more truthfully than we do now.

    The reasons are not terribly hard to understand. And in simple terms the people you associate with are more important in determining your prosperity and safety than your own abilities.

    So just as the Flynn effect is the product of reducing the bottom and saturating everyone else in scientific general rules, we can likewise expect the same increase by saturating everyone in testimonial speech and reducing the bottom.

    We are not yet at the end of history. There is a long way to go. And perhaps the reson we seem stalled in physics is because we aren’t producing enough patterns in our own behavior to deduce the construction of the rest of the universe.

    I used to feel like I was this ordinary guy with this alien monstrous magic box in my head obsessed with some puzzle unknown to me.

    But over the past year Propertarianism and Testimonialism have slowly tamed this monster.

    Or perhaps the monster sensing a pattern to the universe is less angered that my consciousness fails to perceive the same reality.

    And that distinction between the magic box and the person that is me is beginning to disappear.

    And maybe this frustration that has been a constant pressure on my mind since childhood was caused by this … Discord.

    And maybe others who sense the same “wrongness” will be equally un-frustrated by the same experience.

    Maybe the great lies are just more disturbing to some of us.

    Or maybe there is something in the mind if western man that cannot bear the dissonance. And I and those like me are genetic search algorithms searching for correspondence.

    Smith, Newton, Kant, and to some lesser degree Wittgenstein all share this same strange obsession and to equally deleterious person consequences.

    Hume, Locke, and Hayek seem to bear the burden more comfortably.

    You really cannot grasp – I am still grasping – what all of this means.

    I really do think it is as important as the transitions to reason, rationalism, and science.

    I won’t exhaust this set of ideas in my lifetime. And I am not intellectually capable of doing so except slowly.

    But others may.

    And I think the change for mankind will be fascinating.

    Even though I doubt that I will live to see much of it.

    Our ancestors stumbled on a great secret that no other people did.

    And all because they needed to trust each other as equals.
