I think what we are seeing is the end to Aryanism masquerading as Christian universalism masquerading as democratic consumer capitalism, advanced under east coast puritanism, jeffersonian conservatism, jewish neoconservatism, jewish libertarianis, jewish socialism. And that we are returning to ‘what works for my people’ world wide. The jews are doing fine by way of white armies. 🙂 Just as whites have done fine by way of underclass armies.

    THE STATE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

There is a large body of work on the risks of Artificial Intelligence, and the spectrum of methods of defending against one from policing, to forced forgetting, to But central to that work is the consensus that we are still quite far away from producing an Artifical General Intelligence (AGI).

That’s because we are demonstrably very, very, far from creating any form of general AI that can compete with even a small group of intelligent humans in the identification of patterns. We are barely at the brainstem level, and are nowhere near autonomous, conscious, cooperative(sympathetic), or theoretical levels.

Sure, there is clearly a multi-dimensional category of problems that we are forever going to need computational help in modeling and manipulating – but it is unclear if increasing dimensions exist in the universe or whether we cross a boundary where the universe does not model these phenomenon, they are purely mental relations between events of related behavior.

For example, in physics, in bio chemistry, in economics, and in mental phenomenon, we seem to be close to discovering the underlying number of physical dimensional relations (laws). We seem to have a pretty clear view of molecular and protein relations. We seem to have a pretty weak view of human cooperative relations. And we are almost nowhere in our understanding of mental conceptual relations.

However, it’s very unlikely, that even though each of those sets of relations increases in scale, that none of them increase infinitely in scale. So that at some point we can identify a minimum set of general rules for describing each of them.

My current opinion is that mathematicians understand now to model n-dimensional relations, but we just do not know the limits of the natural relations that we wish to model.

When we consider what humans can ‘think of’ and what ‘patterns that they can seek’ it seems to require an awful lot of information to identify a new pattern that adds a new dimension. I am fairly sure that artificial intelligence can help us do this.

But I will stick with the very obvious proposition, that for the identification of dimensions and the identification of patterns of relations, that our problem remains information gathering of sufficient precision to identify relations, not a problem of humans identifying relations.

In other words, we evolve conceptually very fast if we possess data that is obtained by tools, which is then reducible to analogy to experience such that we can create a mental model of it.

This is why I think we misconceptualize the scientific method. The scientific method simply asks us to perform due diligence upon our testimony to reduce bias and error, and prevent deception. The rest of the discipline requires the custom development of increasingly precise and diverse tools for the process of inspection and measurement. IN this sense, I group ALL crafts together in the pursuit of truth of some sort, and then categorize the three forms of coercion gossip/moral, remuneration/trade, force/law, as the three dimensions of coercion and the one dimension of truth (craft).

In other words, the scientific method is a MORAL set of rules that we can certainly impose as RULE OF LAW, enforcing those moral rules, and then as such all of us in all disciplines are bound by the scientific, moral, and legal constraint of truthfulness. And the we have only one discipline of knowledge(craft/investigation), and one of cooperation (negotiation/trade), and one of positive ambitions (gossip/rallying) and one of limits to those ambitions (force/law). I think this two axis view of social orders is probably about as close as we need for any analysis of human orders.

Now, back to artificial intelligence, I tend to look at the problem the same way:

    – investigate/discover, (I would call this modeling rather than computation, just as I think Turing wanted computers to use ‘expensive’ logic rather than ‘cheap’ computation.)

    – fantasize (search for patterns)

    – (voluntary) trade, (search for opportunities)

    – limits (test our limits)

And I would say that any artificial intelligence should possess those four ‘processors’, and only be introspectively AWARE of the results of those four. (It’s not as if the cpu is aware of the contents of the FPU for example. It just compares results.)

In other words, just as we cannot observe our brainstem process, our physical movement processes, or our search (intuitionistic) processes, but only our RESULTS from those processes, then feed back those results for further processing (recursive searching) I suspect there is almost no VALUE in a general intelligence engaging in introspective observation and permutation. In fact I am almost certain that this is the definition of general intelligence.

    Now, there are two ways to handle limits. Either deny the observer (general intelligence) access to immoral, unethical, and illegal results, or weigh results so that it can ‘solve for’ (search for) methods of obtaining the same results by moral means;

And there is a big difference between identifying opportunities (finding a search pattern) and constructing a plan. And plans (workflow processes) are a known problem. While as humans we prefer to work in nodes (deliverables or ‘jobs’. or lists,) because context switching is very hard for us and reduces the value of our general intelligence in performing tasks, computers do not have this problem and they can process many threads of ‘workflows’ in parallel. Because we can only concieve of what we can keep ‘echoing’ between our short and long term memories,

To create a plan (a sequence of operations) any machine must produce some sort of data structure to accommodate it. We humans one of these structures as well but it is extremely limited – which is why we need numbers, writing, lists, sentences, paragraphs, stories, and plans. We actually repeat simple lists over and over in our imaginations in order to try to keep them. But machines do not have this problem of ‘losing context’ or discreet memory.

So we can also regulate the execution of the plan since a plan must occur in sequence in time. So it’s possible to create a conscience or judge that regulates the plan (attempts to falsify the optimistic theory), and that has no other interest other than falsifying the optimistic theory (plan).

And since unlike human minds, other machines can directly inspect the workings of another, it’s possible to police (bottom up) the theories (top down) of any aritficial general intelligence.

    So my view is this:

    (a) the funamental problem is one of data structures, not pattern finding. And that I believe that in order to be useful in any performance scenario, that these datastructures will be spatially n-dimensional, and searches will use pattern identification in n-dimensionsl pattners through them – identifying what’s missing as opportunity rather than what matches as ‘true’.

    (b) that language, and the network of symbols that they refer to, accurately can describe the universe.

    (c) that the four functions should be invisible to the consciousness that makes choices about which opportunities to explore (provides decidability).

    (d) that a separate ai should police the plans (workflow).

    (e) that it is unlikely that any intelligence with these constraints would infact be described as consious, but merely a very complex calculator.

    (f) Like the movie Memento I think the first dangerous problem of it is storing information outside itself, and providing incentives to use that info to reconstruct such a plan – given some motivation to do so. And like many other scenarios, the second dangerous problem is seeking to make people happy rather than seeking to solve problems that are requested of it. Any machine that tries to make us happy will eventually harm us. Because we will give it the same incentive as drugs give us.

AI – IT’S DATA STRUCTURES SILLY

As far as I know, the current problem with Artificial intelligence is data structures and searching methods. The basic problem of pattern recognition is not difficult.

But at present, our data structures require too many CPU cycles. But our computers are approaching human speed. The problem is searching for patterns in current data structures.

I AM NOT AFRAID OF ROGUE AI’S – ONLY ROGUE HUMANS

    1) All so called AI, as far as I know, is, like Mandelbrot’s fractals, a product of the mechanical rate of calculation, and not general pattern recognition from man-actionable (conceptual) signals.

    2) As such, all reports of this nature confuse an increase in calculation with correspondence with intelligence.

    3) Demonstrated intelligence is not the product of calculation (bottom up construction via computable operations) but of searching (property-relation searching, followed by wayfinding)

    4) all choices require decidability. decidability must be provided by the engineers. a machine would need to be designed to be immoral, just as much as it would need to be designed to be moral. Making a machine moral is as easy as having it reserve the same property rights as humans must.

    5) Just as our intuition imputes solutions but we also check against it, it’s quite possible to create two AI’s, one which envisions the creative, within the limits of property, and one which regulates the morality. The former might be considered ‘sentient’ but the second would not (ergo it’s ‘the law’). With shared memory (total transparency), but two forms of decidability, it would mirror human life. This division is necessary since it is possible to take an immoral path to a moral end, then restructure a moral path the moral end.

I am more frightened that someone will create an immoral AI by intention than I am that we cannot defend ourselves against immoral AI’s. I think the punishment for creating an immoral AI should be in line with the creation of a bioweapon.

Q&A: “WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON MBTI?”

    1) I am an INTP, In five factor I have very high agreeableness, average dominance, some introversion, action oriented (tad impulsive), very conscientious, extremely high openness to experience, and high neuroticism (worry). Note the difference between the positive positioning of the INTP and the negative positioning of the 5Factor.

    2) The criticisms of MBTI come from the diagnostic community and they’re largely nonsense. Why?

The five factor model is derived empirically from observed and reported phenomenon, and does not provide a theory of causality. It’s insufficient and it tells us almost nothing about children, which pretty much falsifies it. It’s also very hard to survey, focuses on ‘failings’ and is of little or no general use to the public.

MBTI was developed from observation and a theory proposed. The theory is incorrect, but at least there is a theory/

More importantly MBTI Is as precise and correspondent as is useful for people in ordinary life because it’s as complex as people can manage to use. And it’s demonstrated to be useful in assisting people in cooperating, because it assists them in understanding one another. IT is both a positive and useful measure. With practice, ordinary people can use it in daily life.

    3) The problem with any such test is the number of questions necessary to survey any dimension of a personality with any sufficiency. These surveys must generally be in the 100+ question range per personality dimension, plus they must include about 20% error checking, in order to return reasonably reliable results across variations in mood and context. However, 100 questions seems to be the limit of tolerance. So most survey (testing) organizations tolerate greater variation in results in exchange for greater adoption and necessity of interpretation.

    4) The MBTI is an OPTIMISTIC survey seeking to assist people in cooperating(Negotiating), and the 5 factor (like all Freudian thought) is a DIAGNOSTIC (pessimistic) totalitarian one for the purpose of determining variation from an artificial ideal.

    5) The underlying two-cause model of MBTI is false – the five factor is probably also false. However there is extremely high correlation between these tests on two factors given high weight in both, and lower correspondence between the Pessimistic Diagnostic model, and the Optimistic Negotiation model. To illustrate complex mental phenomenon just as we illustrate complex spatial phenomenon (Hawking’s slices of bread), we can instead take six paper-towel tubes and stack them vertically next to each other in a ring. We can then imagine a plane dividing the standing tubes horizontally. Or we can bisect this ‘ring’ all sorts of ways, creating a ring of tubes of various heights. This is analogous to how 5Factor of personality vs MBTI ‘weighs’ the amplitude of personality traits. The set of traits and the values attached to them are different but so is the purpose of the diagnostic vs the negotiator model.

    6) The underlying model of the mind is information processing not subjective experience, and while 5/6 Factor models do correspond to what we think we understand as brain structures, our understanding of those models are a REWARD system for processing information in a DISTRIBUTION, so that humans SPECIALIZE even within families, is problematic for the Diagnostic and Totalitarian thinkers (equality), and explanatory and useful for the Negotiation and Cooperative thinkers (inequality). So if we say that variations in personality reflect the necessity of using the same physical mental structure for the purpose of distributing information processing, then we describe man correctly, and we describe our industrial era norms as FALSE and DESTRUCTIVE.

    7) Given my present understanding, a reframing of personality as reward system for information processing:

    a) Dominance(male) vs Submission (female) spectrum provides insight but it’s also so obvious that we all but ignore it. Whereas it’s contrasting dominance and submission with the other traits that provides explanatory power in why we act and feel as we do.

    b) Impulsivity vs patience related to patience-worry in that we can worry but not act, or worry and act, and the correlation between impulsivity and neuroticism are predictive. Why? Because it appears that neuroticism (patience/worry/obsession), is the cause of creativity.

    c) Conscientiousness should be reframed as reward for completing opportunities and reward for discovering new opportunities. d)Agreeableness should be desire to adapt to others vs desire to preserve context (individualism).

    e) Openness to Experience should be reframed as desire for adapting to information vs stress from adapting to information.

    f) Neuroticism should be reframed as acceptance(watching) vs worrying(excitement) vs obsession(chasing prey), where worrying is itself a time preference (living in the certain moment experiences vs projecting an uncertain future conditions, vs in pursuit of prey or idea),

    g) the autistic(male)-solipsistic(female) spectrum provides greater insight than all except intelligence and extroversion, and we are just beginning to understand it, and almost no one interprets it as a problem of processing information in a group of males and females with different reproductive demands.

    h) Intelligence is as important as extroversion in personality traits, in no small part because it appears that the limit of our minds to exhaust opportunities across these personality traits determines out resulting behavior (this is profoundly explanatory).

Now, I placed the properties in that list in a particular order. That order is informative. It means that very few causal properties are involved, and we are not quite achieving our goal of understanding them.

    CAUSALITY

    a) Rate of Sexual Maturity

    b) Depth of Sexual Maturity

    c) Gender Differences

    d) Gender Dimorphic Differences

    e) Status (biological/reproductive), Demonstrated/Observed, Self Percieved

    f) Sense of Safety / Security

    g) Intelligence

    h) Culture

    h) Education and discipline

    ALTERNATIVES

I find that if we have:

    – personality survey

    – Intelligence test

    – Moral Survey (Moral Foundations)

    – Cultural Survey (cultural biases)

    – Preference Survey (‘likes’)

we have a pretty complete and predictive profile of an individual

    CLOSING

If we change how people are diagnosed and understood as deviation from an arbitrary (freudian, industrialist, socialist, feminist) ideal, then we can help them be happy and successful in life.

https://mises.org/blog/myth-macroeconomicsSAVE MISES AND ROTHBARD – END THE PSEUDOSCIENCE

We need to stop this kind of thing.

    1) Macro economic manipulation measures the extent to which we can deceive through disinformation, and socialize private gains from capital accumulation. Macro economic manipulation DOES produce gains that SOMETIMES offset those private losses. But this is very hard to measure with any degree of reliability.

    2) Mises is correct that the subjective operational testing (praxeological) of any economic proposition must be possible to construct as a rational and preferable sequence of events, for us to claim that economic phenomenon are descriptive of MORAL processes consisting of TRUTHFUL information provided by money and prices.

    3) But it’s not myth, it’s not pseudoscience, it’s just IMMORAL. Mises conflates not only logic and science, justification and criticism, but also truth and morality. He did hold an insight but as a philosopher he was only marginally better than Rothbard, who was a catastrophe. We are better off reading Simmel than either Rothbard or Mises on the morality of money.

I struggle to reform this nonsense on a daily basis and thankfully I’ve mad substantial progress. Because we cannot pursue liberty by pseudoscience any more than the marxists could pursue communism through pseudoscience.

Mises is repairable. Rothbard less so. Hoppe more so. Hayek and Popper even more so.

But as the right ascends, libertarianism is quickly devolving even further into a lunatic fringe.

It is no use taking down mises and rothbard and possibly hoppe because of dedication to the false praise of men who were partly right but because of cultural traditions conflated true with moral, justification with criticism, logic with science, and straw men with argument.

We do their legacies no honor by promoting their errors rather than their achievements.

IN THREE GENERATIONS WE SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF SOCIAL SCIENCE.

That’s enough. We can take credit for it. Not because each man was perfect. Or because each man was an authority. But because despite being victims of their times and cultures, they each managed to find a piece of the puzzle that solved the riddle of social science. Cooperation by non imposition of costs that cause retaliation. Or stated positively: Reciprocal insurance of Property in Toto; continually policed by the market for dispute resolution: Natural, common, judge-discovered, law.

THE WEST’S UNIQUE INVERSION OF THOUGHT

Again. Man is rational. We calculate acquisition probability of property in toto – especially status – with frightening speed and precision.

The enlightenment thinkers could not escape religion nor monopoly morality. Even the Greeks and Romans, and our best thinkers today, confuse the western smbition as the cause of our civilization rather than the western prohibition left no other options open to us than the one we chose.

The minute you choose sovereignty the consequence is truth, law and Liberty.

We are created by our chosen limits leaving only actions available to us within them.

No other civilization chose sovereignty because none other developed personal property prior to rule.

This inversion of human thought is going to be almost impossible to train into man’s mind.

We think in terms of opportunities and we rail against limits. But it is limits that forced western man to create the greatest opportunities because sovereignty, property, and reciprocal insurance are the most granular allocation of choice and opportunity humanly possible. And Common law the fastest prohibition possible.

This is a profound insight into the velocity of different cultures.

Sovereignty is our cult, and law is our scripture

And nobody seems to say that because while true it is not inspirational.

So as such our mythos is like every other aspect of our civilization, divided into the primary scripture of law, and mythos, art, literature, invention and commerce as the separate positive religions that spring from the limits of that law.
