James Augustus, your insight on this topic still inspires me.

    On tragedy and heroism,

To act is to encounter resistance. To encounter resistance is to suffer.

To overpower resistance individually is heroism. To overpower resistance collectively is progress. Collective progression requires heroic leaders, hence the glory of heroism.

To succumb to resistance individually is inevitable, however to struggle against resistance individually is to aide the collective struggle to progress. Collective progression requires individual struggle, hence the beauty of tragedy.

PEOPLE *WILL* TAKE NATURAL LAW IN EXCHANGE

Ran my work on ending financialism through the “Mom Test” today with excellent results. (Spent her career in customer service, banking, teaching, and counseling.)

Response? Well, horror at understanding how our people have been preyed upon. Thrilled at the consequences of that reform. Amazed at the solutions provided. But “omg… you cannot explain this kind of thing to the average american. they’re too stupid….”

Which is why we can only do it under natural law, and defense of the informational commons, so that we can punish, imprison, or kill anyone who attempts to use propaganda to stop it.

You see, we must adhere to natural law, and offer something substantial to the people in exchange for imposing a new constitution of natural law

What I’m offering is the banking and financial sector and their political dependents on pyre in exchange for rescue from financial servitude.

    (diary)(health update)

OK. So I have been back in the states for about six months staying with family and working on software, writing, and my health. It took about the first three months to get over the pneumonia or whatever it was that had been dogging me for a year. That took me until about mid January. By mid-march I started getting my strength back. Starting in mid April, on family and doctor’s advice, I’ve cut down my work day substantially to about six hours, slept more, and over the past two weeks, eaten more – and over the past week or so, I feel like I’m close to getting back on my feet. My skin looks much better. Wrinkles are going. My eyes look better. And ideas are flowing much better. And I’m not sucking on my adrenaline gland twenty hours a day.

If feels like I just need to get fit again now. And the fact that it sounds ‘enjoyable’ is probably evidence of my recovery. (Want to thank Megan for telling me I sounded ‘fragile’, which is what made me think that I needed to slow down if I wanted to recover faster. And so far it’s working. )

I am not sure how much of it’s the season, how much of it’s ditching the pneumonia, and how much of it’s just simple recovery. But I take about half my previous prescription and I feel fine.

(Well, to be honest I feel fine other than [RANT] the daily saturation in american (bullshit) news, television, marketing, advertising. And the daily reminder that this part of central connecticut, which, as territory on this earth, was once as glorious as west france and southern england, is continuing to follow detroit because of the concentration of dysgenics in combination with white flight to economic opportunity. I mean, I like the farmers on this side of the river. But the other side of the river, from Springfield MA, through Hartford to New Haven/Bridgeport, and then up to Danbury and Waterbury is basically a slum. And the Puerto Rican’s have destroyed Willimantic and New Britain as thoroughly as the blacks destroyed Hartford and New Haven (and Baltimore, and Detroit, and Cincinnati, and Oakland and…. You get the point. It’s sad. [/RANT] )

    Anyway.

Slow progress on software, but progress. I can only work a few hours a day or i’m less effective than doing nothing. Great progress on philosophy in the first quarter without much effort Probably due to sleeping. Intro to courses script done. Working on the “what is philosophy” scripts. Working on Declaration and Constitution (which rocks). This balance seems possible for now. I assume that as usual, as I increase my fitness my work capacity will return.

I miss ukraine every day, and I miss it a lot. It hurts really.

DO YOU SEE THE PATTERN OF PREDATION?

    1) Marxism and Postmodernism kill hosts by creating the moral hazard of hyperconsumption and dysgenia. (1850-present)

    2) Christianity kills hosts by manufacturing both ignorance and ‘tolerance’ of predation. ( 100 – Present )

    3) Islam kills hosts by raiding, predation, parasitism, ignorance, and dysgenia. ( 600 – present )

    4) Judaism kills hosts by alliance with the state against the people, financial parasitism, pollution of the normative commons by creation of hazards, and destruction of trust. ( 500BC to present.)

You do see that pattern, don’t you?

There is only one moral rule: natural law. Perfect reciprocity. Beyond that rule, all violence is licensed by nature and nature’s god.

Abrahamism has been deadlier than the black plague.

    YOU WANT TO THREATEN VIOLENCE?

“You have 180 days to return to muslim lands or we will use nuclear weapons to destroy the rock, the Mosque, Mecca, and irradiate it for ten thousand years; then we will bomb every mosque extant in the world, kill every one of you who remains, and and kill 1000 muslims for every christian harmed from this day forward. This is our threat, our promise, and our command.”

This is what strong american leader could say.

And there is nothing that could be done about it.

ON SYNTACTIC PARSIMONY IN PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES

Um. Your analogy to ordinary language is good. But you overstate the case.

Given the history of the evolution of languages:

    (a) It is extremely unlikely that the arrow syntax will survive in current form;

    (b) it is not more readable and this has been demonstrated in every (of the hundred or so I’ve had to learn) language over the past five decades.

And lastly (c), react/virtual DOM is a good idea, but it is terribly fragile, and the entire js architecture it depends upon is terribly fragile, and we should assume that the browser-as-OS and JS-as-language-of-browsers, will evolve as all other languages have evolved.

Why? because we are all working on hacks to compensate for the slow development of browsers and js language because of standards committees.

Meaning, the correct answer is closer to your original analogy: programing is simply a more operational language than we speak with in less operational and more experiential ordinary language, and as such the written words in both ordinary and operational language should be parsimonious without introducing opportunity for misinterpretation.

Great code is readable, but does not require interpretation. Meaning it is parsimonious but not obscure,

I have seen generation after generation of guys make the same claims, always to the same ends.

THere is no difference between natural language and operational language, including the grammar and syntax other than programming langauges, by virtue of operational language, must consist of informationally complete statements, and natural languages can rely upon the audience using ‘guesses’ to fill in the informational gaps.

Programming is communication with another person: everyone that follows you, using the limited vocabulary of the machine and its inability to infer missing information.
