    Chinese vs. Western DIfferences Explained

    Correct framing for Westerners.

    (a) Europeans solved the problem of politics with a prohibition on authority by the Greeks: an alliance of aristocratic families and those who wished to join them, and the enfranchisement of all landholders who fought into that opportunity., under a rule of law of natural law (sovereignty) and concurrency (not democracy). The Chinese did not solve the problem of politics with Confucius – and directed the civilization to a family hierarchy, preserving authority.

    (b) The Chinese are geographically isolated from the ‘hostile peoples’ of the middle east and less so from the steppe. The Europeans were far less so from both. So China had its consolidation period (warring states period) just prior to Europe having its wars against Rome. With the fall of Rome and the Christian destruction of the ancient world, Europe didn’t have its equivalent of the warring states period until the wars of religion (the birth of the nation-state) almost 2000 years later.

    (c) And while China had her opportunity for imperial expansion over many centuries to slowly integrate near-peoples into the Han culture (even though they are not Han), they had the opportunity for world colonization at the same time as the Europeans but having found India and Africa found nothing of value (they were right actually).

So the Europeans benefitted from the age of colonization.

Moreover, the northern Germans (Hansa) developed the modern political culture, the Dutch invented the modern economic model, and the British invented the modern state, and once the trade was restored, wealth was able to return to investment in competitive technology, and Europe left the world behind in the steel age as it had in the bronze age with the horse, and the ancient world with political systems, military organization, technology, and that most wonderful innovation: money.

    (d) So, in practical terms, China “should” have gone through the transition out of imperialism into economic nation-states as did Japan, but the political and economic burden was too great for a civilization that had failed to solve the problem of political cooperation by distribution instead of hierarchy. So, unfortunately, Mao chose communism and chose it poorly.

Today, it is evident that China would break up into nation-states for the betterment of all, at the cost of the communist party leadership that is almost as corrupt as the Russian. So to prevent another conflict, the CCP is trying to preserve the empire.

This is fine. The problem is that they’re trying to externalize this failure to manage their evolutoin from an empire into a federation, and it’s because they have a history of instability – precisely because their ancestors failed to solve the problem of politics. And it’s now ingrained in their culture.

    (e) Our estimation in the West is that this power cannot hold indefinitely because the corruption is overwhelming, the population is collapsing, china is dependent upon american protection of her sea lanes of trade, and because the world was “kind to China’ in shipping our manufacturing there precisely in the hope china would grow into a modern rule-of-law, rules-based-order that would see the continued prosperity of the Chinese people and prevent the restoration of wars of empires and ideology.

So the West is playing a game of delay until collapse, while China, following tradition, is playing a game of delay and deceive until they can assert sufficient local power that the CCP and the empire can continue rather than evolve into more prosperous and independent nation-states, given that china is an empire over multiple ethnicities. It’s very easy to understand our differences. We believe that the Chinese population, like the European population, is capable of more if it has more liberty. And if it did so, the world would embrace China for something other than the money it would soon run out of, at the expense of its citizens, who need it more than foreigners.

TAXES DON’T SOLVE INEQUALITY. HOW TO FIX IT?
No you cannot reduce inequality with taxes.
    You can:
Structure your economy for employment (instead of prices) -reducing need for taxes and redistribution.
Compensate for market failure by producing a labor economy for the production of commons – reducing need for taxes and redistribution: note that this demand is going to increase rapidly as technology continues to increase.
Require work for redistribution – producing returns on redistribution.
Increase employability of citizens within their ability limits – reducing need for taxes and redistribution.
Eradicate rent seeking, socialization of losses, privatization of commons, and corruption – reducing need for taxes.
Limit utility, bureacracy, state, and education ‘income capture’, in particularly prohibiting unions – reducing need for taxes.
Convert consumer interest, insurance, employment, medical, and retirement savings to non-profits under the treasury, invest those ‘institutional investments’ in the economy – reducing need for taxes.
Convert the Academy and Medical industries to professional-run, and end all administrative personnel who consume the majority of costs.
Restore ability to hire by tests of IQ and personality thereby ending the need for 100k education debt as a substitute.
Reduce education over 13 to part time and begin part time employment for the young. Socialization and economic education are more important than indoctrination.
Improve education by replacing instruction with ‘gaming’.
Continue govt funding of research but structure as public private, keeping part of the profits of R&D in the treasury reducing neede for taxes.
Form public-private businesses for the provision of utilities (most of which would include telco, video, data, cell, and run them as non-profits.).
End the immigration problem that seeks to keep wages low, at the expense of social destruction (bowling alone). And restore requirement for full integration before admission.

And I can continue this list for pages and pages.

In other words, we make the economy better by ending bads that indirectly produce goods, rather than try to produce goods that always and everywhere produce bads by externality.

A BROADER CONTEXT TO THE POSTWAR STRATEGY
The broader context @PeterZeihan doesn’t quite summarize with enough clarity for average folk, is that the postwar era strategy is to end *empires* that privatized territory, trade and trade routes, and to replace it with nation states (the natural evolution of empires) with relatively free (market) trade.

So in evolutionary sense we went from imperial agrarian religious, to imperial industrial ideological, to our ‘ambition’ of federated empirical nation states in the hope that the Smithian vision would end the ‘age of empires’ and their endemic wars.

When we position the postwar program as just ‘against communism’ which evolved into “against islamism” this converts the framing of our understanding from (scientific) natural evolutionary progress of mankind to some pseudo-religious or philosophical context that is an arbitrary preference.

And in my work this is a common human cognitive failure – we are missing the evolutionary causality that reminds us that we are just another extension of the physical world operating and evolving by the same principles.

What my hero PeterZ and many others fail to emphasize sufficiently for my taste, is that different civilizations practice group evolutionary strategies that evolved during their first agrarian governments.

And the result is we are entrenched in civilizational projects that vary increasingly from the laws of nature, and as such, determine our rate of growth.

From the economic historian’s perspective, all other civilizations recovered from the bronze age collapse, developed their core strategies, and between 800bc and 800ad, completely exhausted the opportunity of agrarianism – and descended into stagnation.

Where the europeans, had they not fallen to overreach, christian sedition, and wars of migration and innovation, that we could quite easily have had the industrial revolution by 500-800ad, and saved humanity from a thousand years of muslim destruction of seven great civilizations of the ancient world, and the european dark ages, and all the suffering that both included.

  • More on the Determinism vs Nature vs Nurture Question. You can’t reduce behavior

More on the Determinism vs Nature vs Nurture Question. You can’t reduce behavior to one cause.

The one thing we find hardest to teach is full accounting by disambiguation, enumeration, and equilibrium, instead of ‘It’s just reducible to this”.

Causes: Genetic vs Biological, vs Metaphysical (strategy, narrative) vs Political (institutions), vs Social (class), vs Sex vs Generation.

    See Michael’s comment from yesterday:

    —- Michael—–
By reasoning in the shorthand (sets and ideals), academia Fails to account for causal constraints in each of their fields, promotes the lie that all ideals are equally shared by all people(s), and furthers our ignorance of how differing ideals originated in their host populations.

Instead of educating people in sets, logic, and wordplay, We need to educate people in:
Operations: Old Set —> New Set
Logics: plural, both classical/formal AND ternary logic of decidability ( @curtdoolittle pioneers this work)
Exchanges: tests of reciprocity, full accounting.
My own speculation based on teaching experience says that most people natively think in sets as young children, as a way to negotiate with parents

Set thinkers argue with your CHOICE OF WORDS 🙃 to describe the set bc the causal property of a “set” = “definition”.

    —–Michael End—

In philosophy, we call this ‘oversimplification’ reductionism. Names of sets, and set logic are insufficient for the complexity of concepts we are trying to compare.

So, we seek reduction to first principles (causes), where all first principles (causes) are in equilibrium(supply demand) because that’s the only way the universe can know anything: survival (persistence).

In the sense of Nature vs Nurture, if we are speaking of maximum potential, it’s 80% nature and 20% idiosyncratic experience during development: meaning we don’t really know because genetics are probabilistic and recombinant so mathematical prediction is of lower resolution than genetic computation of outcomes. Mostly parents (nurture) can screw you up, or reduce your frictions (help) but your potential is genetic.

There is no sense in bringing in determinism unless we disambiguate categorical determinism (abilities, biases, and preferences) that recognizes sex class culture and other differences, from soft determinism (tendency of similar people to come to similar conclusions when subject to the same stimuli) from hard determinism (we are purely reactive creatures). When given our brains are prediction engines, and given how poorly we predict outcomes, and how dependent we are on established experience, skills, knowledge, norms, traditions, and institutions, and metaphysical presumptions, ignorance, bias, and ERROR alone prevent hard determinism.

    We have categorical free will.

And that’s before we get to all those aforementioned priors that prevent hard determinism.

    Hugs, Cheers, and All That.

  • UNDERSTANDING SEMITIC CIV AND RELATIVE CIV AS CONSEQUENCES EVOLUTION: 1. Female

UNDERSTANDING SEMITIC CIV AND RELATIVE CIV AS CONSEQUENCES

    EVOLUTION:
    1. Female strategy is to divide alphas (sedition) to control access to reproduction and resources.

    2. Semitic strategy is to divide aristocracies (sedition), and in particular high-trust indo-europeans to preserve the dominance of low-trust family and tribe.

    3. Jewish strategy is to use small numbers of propagandists, lawyers, and financiers to use material baiting-into-hazard to divide high-trust Europeans by sex, class, and faction to preserve the possibility for financial extraction. Financial extraction was taught to the Jews by the Egyptians, who, because Jews were outcasts, could be counted on to reliably extract from their neighbors.

    4. Muslim strategy is to use massive populations of low-trust tribalism and an authoritarian religion (evading the problem of trust in leadership) specifically suited to low-IQ, low-trust tribal people loyal to family and clan to erode (by sedition) military, economic, and institutional and cultural capital while promising limited Islamic individual irresponsibility, for people with limited capacity for responsibility, and the resulting equality in ignorance and poverty, to seduce women and the lower classes into the promise of equality despite ignorance and poverty.

This is the same strategy from the female to the Semitic to the Jewish (and Christian) to the Muslim. And it works because the Semitic people are untrustworthy, and trustworthiness depends on ability, and lacking ability, they cannot carry responsibility, and unable to carry responsibility, they cannot trust or be trusted. This is why Europeans are Truth-before-Face people, east asians are face-before-truth people, and semites are “faceless” people, respecting cheating and lying on behalf of their own (and were before Islam), and why Africa has no concept of face, only pragmatism.

    Comparative Evolutionary Velocity
World religions: western logical empiricism, east asian
philosophical naturalism, Buddhist spiritual wisdom, Hindu mythicism, Semitic organized religion, and African magical religions all correspond to differences in the intellectual capacity of the population. And as such the developmental velocity of the populations.

With the order of institutional formation determining the friction to developmental velocity. Because the three possible institutions adapt at different rates with different efforts: With Religion the most friction, State less so, Philosophy even less so, and natural law the least friction of all.

    SOLUTIONS
Universal Dichotomy: Male-Female, Master-Slave, Aristocratic-Peasant: Solved only by Rule of Law-Majority Middle Class and demographic capacity for majority middle class. Majority Middle class requires an average IQ in the population of 105-115. So even the West is in danger.

    CAUSALITY:
    African Civ 60-70IQ
South Eurasian Civ +1 Standard Deviation
    … MENA Civ 83-85 IQ.
    … Indian Civ 83-84 IQ
    Hybrid Peoples: +.5 Standard Deviation
… (Many Civs) low 90’s IQ
European Civ 100-103 IQ +1 Standard Deviation
East Asian Civ 104-106 IQ +.4 Standard Deviation

    SUMMARY
Demographics, institutions, and technology produce your destiny. You must fix your demographics to fix your institutions, to fix your technology, to fix your relative condition.

    And that’s hard to do.

    Cheers.

DIDN’T WANT TO RAIN ON THE PARADE (UNTIL NOW)

But RU weaponization of radiation from the Zaporizhia power plant will irradiate the conquered territories rendering them uninhabitable while the RU tolerate the losses and wait for their (presumed) exhaustion of the west, failure of democratic governments, and the impossibility of recovery of the UA economy and her people. RU can afford to win by affording to lose more longer.

Some of us think like this. I certainly do. We just don’t do it. As Machiavelli warned, never let your morals influence your prediction of possibilities, because morality is only for you and your own – international warfare is an immoral enterprise….

I haven’t said anything because I assumed back-channel threats would be sufficient. But given recent events I think that possibility is exhausted. Exacerbating Russia’s position as a pariah will acclerate putin’s attempt to re-militarize the polity and the economy, and require even greater efforts at containment while his population declines into the elimination of the russian ethnicity.

And there is too little opposition (without assasinating him) to produce any alternative outcome.

Dictators are bad for two reasons: no checks and balances on stupid ideas, and total conversion of all relationships to yes men.
