    Well, everyone who gave me advice was right, and the internet data was accurate. It is the wild west at a discount. Employees cost $400 (admin) – $2000 (dev lead) per month. An upper end apartment costs 2k per month. Dinner for four at the best restaurant in town is about $80 including alcohol. A 45 minute cab ride cost $25. Coffee and pastry at a good shop costs $8. The people seem intelligent, honest and capable, but risk averse – albiet less risk averse than your average working and lower class Brit. Overeducated but hopeful young people litter the streets. Everything is done by relationships. Micro entrepreneurship is everywhere, and trying to circumvent the corruption of the state. Yes, the government is openly corrupt, but it’s possible to circumvent it. Yes, the women really are beautiful, and they’re everywhere, but the careful eye will notice two things: they do not eat processed foods, and they believe women are women, men are men, and the femininity is beautiful. Of course, I am meeting my Fullbright friend’s circle, which is quite sophisticated, but it’s still a sampling none the less.

    This week: trial ads for staff, office space.

    My college girlfriend’s name was Christopher Cushing Mallory. Back then it was cute contradiction that this pretty, perky little 5’2″ high-hairlined celtic blonde had a masculine name. But today, it’s much more common: because there are so many transvestites, and so many web pages that contain the text “her name is Christopher.” Anyway she still lives in NY state. And yes, she’s naturally a she. (Just wondering what Andy will come up with for this one. But I don’t mind being the straight man. lol )

    Never underestimate the degree to which serious illness affects your temperament and reasoning ability. Nor the degree to which your body is attempting to communicate with you with primitive and incomprehensible signals. Nor your incredible capacity to either ignore or misunderstand them.

    I had no idea. I thought I was holding up reasonably well. In retrospect, the absurd physical and mental pain tolerance that I cherish was a debilitating liability.

    We polished off quite a bit of alcohol yesterday on the boat, and last night a bottle of Lagavulin 18.

    I can apparently drink whatever I want now, and as much of it as I want, without a hangover. It’s like I have a new liver or something.

    My friend Andy Duncan apparently cannot say the same thing. 🙂

    My body is trained. Just noticed that as soon as I start walking down the ramp I start to fall asleep. I’m not sure that’s something I want to be trained in. :). It means I’ve spent too much time on planes.

    But pity those poor people who can’t sleep when flying.

    Look, you know, it’s an art thing. I don’t do tattoos or women with them so to speak. I just don’t. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think that it’s beautiful. I just kind of wish it was paint that wore off in six months rather than permanently altering your body.

    No judging. That’s not the point. I’m a libertarian. THe point is that the illustrated human body, especially with organic imagery is just beautiful.
