  • Come Home To Aristocratic Egalitarianism – Leave The Ghetto

    [I]’m an aristocratic egalitarian. I am willing to grant full spectrum Propertarian property rights to all who are equally willing to fight for it in word and deed to the best of their ability. That is the ancient source of liberty: the aristocratic egalitarianism of the indo-europeans. Libertarians from the Rothbardian movement are largely a collection of ‘pussy-tarians’, ‘coward-tarians’, ‘stupid-tarians’, ‘aspie-tarians’, ‘libertines’, and ‘dishonest-cheat-itarians’ who can be divided into two camps: those fooled by obscurantism, and those who are naturally liars, cheats, and dishonest. Ditch ghetto libertarianism as the immoral dishonest scheme that it is. Come home to aristocratic egalitarianism. Take liberty by force, for moral reasons, rather than beg for it for immoral reasons.

    FROM FREE RIDING TO RENT SEEKING TO ANARCHY People form governments to suppress the high transaction costs of criminal, unethical, and immoral behavior. The consequence is that all that suppressed free riding is simply converted into rent seeking by the bureaucracy. By forming governments, we trade high transaction costs that are pervasive (rampant criminal, unethical and immoral behavior) for low transaction costs that are increasingly expensive (conspiratorial, corrupt and exploitative behavior). The question we face in advancing political theory, is how to prevent rent seeking as well as free riding. The answer is to allow insurance companies, the common law, the courts, and a fully articulated set of property rights to do their jobs for us. Yes, there are certain luxuries we may wish to produce as a commons. There is no reason that we cannot produce luxuries as a commons. But we cannot produce laws. We can only allow the courts to discover them.

    Now, my reasons for going to church, for talking to god are fairly intellectual, and not in the least superstitious or supernatural. But then that is based upon one’s ability to think in increasing degrees of abstraction from the more simplistic and anthropomorphic. I might prefer that ‘church’ preached the “Matter of Greece, France, Germany, and England” as myths, and I might prefer that the ‘church school’ taught physical fitness, military and political strategy, morality and the law, the use of money, and economics’. But I accept the simple fact that a polity must experience running, dancing, chanting, singing, reciting, together to help us ‘bond’ by reminding us of our origins as a pac; of surrendering our will to the group – which is the source of the feeling of ‘spirituality’, and the ultimate sense of safety that we can experience.

    We are the only people to have done it. Because we are the only people who out-bred, and broke the extended family, creating universalism. The problem is that once we abandon nationalism, our out-bred high trust universalism rapidly became a weakness that has led to our conquest by older more primitive societies.

    The cure to libertarian illiteracy is to keep up on research, rely on science, and not empty verbalism of continental and cosmopolitan rationalism. (See Axelrod – Cooperation.     The libertarian spectrum is less ignorant of economics, but libertarian scientific illiteracy, moral blindness, and ideological zeal is nearly universal.

    Human moral instincts are objective and universal if we account for differences in reproductive strategies: they are prohibitions on free riding. Cultures may randomly invent different moral CODES that incorporate more or less prohibition on free riding, and accommodate the use of property in relation to family size. But the cause of moral instinct is universal: the prohibition on free riding and the requirement for contribution to production.

    That’s just science. Deal with it.
